Re: Goob's Saabaru part II
What would happen if I ran without an EBCS vs running an EBCS with the map Julian did for you? Would that map need to be reworked if I ran an EBCS?
Will I need a walbro fuel pump?
Also, DP arrived!

Re: Goob's Saabaru part II
You could not run my MAP with a 3 port. It would HAVE to be redone. I don't know anyone who has, but I would expect the turbo would overboost like crazy.
The wastegate parameters change when any solenoid change occurs. In ROM Raider, you set the wastegate parameters with maximums. Most 3-port EBCS will allow boost levels of 80+lbs of boost, whereas the stock 2 port gets a bit flaky at much above 18 lbs on the smaller TD04 sized turbos, and 21 lbs on the vf39 / 43 / 48 / 52 series turbos. Or it may not let them reach anywhere near that threshold. Like mine or Jason's.
With my current map and a the stock 2 port bcs I'm hitting just over 15lbs and dropping to just under 14lbs. I also have my wastegate actuator about as tight as it gets.
You will not need a fuel pump unless you go to a lager turbo, and then you would need larger injectors as well. A path I cannot recommend.

So, no need to get an ebcs yet if I use your map?
just need to order the headers and find a STI splitter

Re: Goob's Saabaru part II
If you are going to use my MAP, I would not let the splitter stop you from installing the rest of your parts.
If someone brings a Tactrix and Julian has the MAP and his laptop, you can just flash and go.
Pick-up the splitter whenever.

You do not NEED it.
If you want to run maximum boost with maximum stability, than it is worth having.

So who would be willing to lend a hand with the stage II madness install?
I have a heated oversized 2 car garage out near Clifton that we can do the install.

If you can help me source a propshaft and bearing, I'm in.

Re: Goob's Saabaru part II
I am looking at the Grimmspeed Subaru Exhaust Gaskets
22% Thicker than OEM Gaskets with a 304 Stainless Steel Fire Ring
Package Contents:
•(2) Engine to Exhaust Manifold Gaskets
•(2) Exhaust Manifold to Crosspipe Gaskets
•(1) Exhaust Manifold to Up Pipe Gasket
•(1) Up Pipe to Turbo Gasket
•(1) Turbo to Downpipe Gasket
•(1) 3" Downpipe to Cat-Back Gasket (don't need since I am keeping the stock cat and have another 2.5" gasket)
Is this all I need?

Re: Goob's Saabaru part II
Wow, going through all that work just to put gaskets on a stock exhaust?
If you are hell bent on doing that, then at least save yourself some work and leave the crossover section alone and don't touch those gaskets.

If the stock gaskets are in good condition I will let them be.

Re: Goob's Saabaru part II
By the time you 'check the gaskets', you have already taken the pipes apart and might as well replace them.

Re: Goob's Saabaru part II
You might just want to look for a 2.5" intermediate pipe. Daddy's has the Stromung piece for $158.goob_os101 wrote:might be picking up a Tanabe Medalion Touring CBE for the Saabaru. The STI CBE is just too quite

Once you put the shorty down-pipe on, the exhaust note will open-up noticeably. And you say your mid-pipe cat is gutted as well.
Trust me, you will want some muffling in there. And while the Tanabe Medallion isn't a really "loud" exhaust, it isn't quiet either. Especially not running completely catless.
