despite data plan stuff, how is the actual phone?! haven't played with one yet...
the hardware is nice and solid. Physical keyboard would take some getting used to. 2.0 is a serious performer. The screen resolution is a full generation better than the iPhone. That extra resolution goes a long way.

Not sure about battery life yet, but performance is fantastic. Opens, switches between apps and screens as fast as the 3GS. Copy + paste works everywhere but isn't as slick as the iPhone OS implementation. Overall I'm quite impressed. I might just end up on a family plan with her, it's that good.

EDIT:Media playback and control has a ways to go. iPhone wins that one hands down. Almost everything else, it's an honest to FSM toss-up.

Ars Technica has a pretty decent review up.

FWIW, I've jumped over to Verizon from AT&T... Take that for what it's worth.

Pretty cool phone. 8)

I checked out some apps (cel phone games) that run on both the i-phone and on droid.
The droid, albeit nicer than the i-phone in every other respect, had worse frame rates.

(edit : thought about it... the higher resolution didn't help things)
