It's still to European for my liking. This is not an inspiring gallery. It looks like the old Saabs. Back when they all looked like moose heads.

<OT> ^^I wonder how often that happens on a cargo ship  </OT>

Change the grille to the new sport grille and redo those @#$@# rear tail lights...and then, it would be okay. And I mean okay, not great.

Looks ok to me.... Need to see what the STI we get is going to look like in person before making any judgment calls.

fender flairs are there and the grill is improved, the wing will be a little different but I think you're looking at 95% of the new STi.
and 100% of the FAIL. :(

Autoblog wrote:Okay. We're completely and utterly dumbfounded. We just got back from the Subie-booth and after rummaging through the press CD for ten-minutes, we found exactly ONE sentence about the Impreza WRC Concept. That sentence reads: "The Concept Car, based on the new Impreza, conjures up images of future styling trends for a world rally car."

That's it folks. No word on power output or new all-wheel-drive wizardry, but we think it's safe to assume a blown two-liter flat four sends power to all four wheels via some revised drivetrain software. In the meantime, enjoy the 36 images in our gallery below.

Apart from the absolutely hideous tail lights, I don't think it looks that bad. But then again, I like hatchbacks.

Sounds like you guys are grumpy Gus's today. 8)

I guess I'll be the odd man out and say that I like it.
Yep, the grille and lights have to go, but I'm still diggin' the hatch.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If they weren't calling this the new Impreza, if it wasn't carrying the Impreza badge into the future, my feelings about it might be different. I'm not a fan of hatchbacks but I'm willing to make an exception if the function outweighs the form. But, seeing as how Subaru is discarding the "legend" and starting over with this leaves me with sour taste in my mouth and a feeling of WTF in my heart.

This, my Subaru coterie, is not an Impreza. This is the end of the Impreza as we've come to know and love it. It will no longer be the distinctive road machine that it is today. But instead it'll be held in the same class as the Mazda 3, Toyota Matrix, and other generic small conversion vehicles. No, I do not like where this headed and don't think any hatchback spoiler can change that.

I am sorry to say that the pictures of the '08 STI in the EVO vs. STI shootout in R&T are the final product. They continued running them in the latest R&T and are sticking w/ that being what it will look like. Which isn't bad except for the stupid chrome grille (easy fix), stupid chrome strip on the rear of the car, and the stupid tail lights.

Yes, kids...the word for today is: stupid! <everyone in PeeWee's playhouse goes crazy!>

the only unfixable issue with the STi version: the hood is too long and it throws off the "hot hatch" look.

Final product? No official images have been released to my knowledge. Subaru has been keeping everything EXTREMELY hush hush until the TAS when they unveil it. Those pics are all CG.

Autoblog wrote:Next month in Frankfurt, we'll all get our first looks at Subaru's new WRC car in the form of the Subaru WRC Concept. The automaker will have driver Petter Solberg on hand for the introduction of the racer, which for all intents and purposes shows us what the next-gen Impreza WRC car will look like. It should also offer a very strong hint at the styling of the forthcoming Impreza STI. The STI grille, big wing and bulging bodywork do the new Impreza some good, as this looks worlds better and far more aggressive than the soft-looking standard car.

it would be marginally acceptable with different tails and grill, but the whole hatchback concept isn't sitting well with me yet. maybe in the future.. who knows? i grew to like the 06 pignose so anything's possible .

The grill is too reminiscent of Honda and Toyota and everything falls apart once you get passed the rear door. It's still looks like a moosehead.

I'm trying to like it, I really am. It's just not happening yet. :?

It's growing on me fast... as someone who has hauled drywall, 2x4's etc. in a STI, I wouldn't mind the extra room... would make room for some ski's too :)

You don't buy an WRX STI to haul construction supplies...that is why they make a forester  SOA just needs to get their @$$ in gear and get us the FSTI!!! :censor:

Yeah, my mom pulls the same stunt w/ her miata and my father's G35 w/ leather  ..."Hey! There is a big heavy/full, dirty trashcar blocking my miata's door!...that's okay, I will just push it w/ my door!" I keep telling my mom she needs a truck or at least a low end forester (b/c she is anal about fuel economy) so that she can beat up and haul stuff.

I just don't get my parents. They buy nice cars and treat them like poop :( It's like watching a perfectly good Porsche being destroyed/crushed in a movie just for the *AWE* factor.

NOTE: Julian I am not saying you treat your STI like poop but just referring to my parents and their cars.
