although I suppose they're not the first. I find that riding, even with a scarf (I don't have a balaclava, I suspect it's easier without the scarf wrapped behind my neck), impairs how far I can turn my head to either side. On the other hand, it seems sensible to have head & neck protection. Anyone have comments on this? I remember Ross' recent incident in the Tc, and he said that the "HANS did its job." I have yet to drop my bike(s), which means I'm due. I usually wear armored clothes on long rides (the Cortech pants, for example, and I'm putting the armor into the 511's this week), but it's that trip to work in the morning where I know I'm not the only one with 1mm of denim between me and the road.
Is "neck armor" overkill? Is it a marketing ploy?
