Wow. They have some good writers. There are so many memorable quotes I'd love to pull from there.
What are the thoughts on a NISSAN section under MAKE SPECIFIC?
Only suggest it because the GT-R and its future versions will be as much at home in the DCAWD lounge as the EVO and STI. There will probably be at least as much watercooler talk going on about Nissans as Audis. No?

I would take the GT-R over any of those other 3. I do love the Porsche, though. If it was against the 911T, that would be a tough one. Probably still stick w/ the Nissan b/c it will still be cheaper to own, insure, and fix.
I can't stand the R8, not that it isn't a nice car, just something about it I don't like...rather have the RS6 AVANT

And the Z06 is a great powerhorse but I just don't own American cars due to reliability issues (but if I ever did, it would only be a corvette) and will stick w/ my AWD, plus I would rather have the standard C6 which is a less jarring daily driver.

Perhaps, but would you pay the price difference?spazegun2213 wrote:i still dont care what people say about it... 4000lbs... what a pig.. i mean really!?! its a nice car.. but its not the end all, and really I'd take any of those cars over the skyline any day.
And dispite the apparent girth, it certainly doesn't appear to perform like a car carrying a lot of extra weight.

Would i pay for the z06 over the GT-R? well considering its less over here than the GT-R, why not! As for the GT3, thats ~100k, the RS is ~130-150, and i have no idea what used R8's are going for.drwrx wrote:Perhaps, but would you pay the price difference?spazegun2213 wrote:i still dont care what people say about it... 4000lbs... what a pig.. i mean really!?! its a nice car.. but its not the end all, and really I'd take any of those cars over the skyline any day.

I have one thing to say about the GT-R, sure its a great car, i have NO real problem with it other than it weighing SO MUCH! While everyone says it does not "feel" like a heavy car, they all say that the other cars are a little more nimble, a little more razor sharp. Thats what i want in a car, if i buy a GT3 I want that knife to slice though the corners, not the blunt instrument that the GT-R would be. It may get though that corner faster, but there is nothing better than balancing a car at the peak of adhesion though a corner. I just dont get the sense you can do that in the GT-R.

If that's so, why haven't we seen you buy/drive a Miata or S2000?spazegun2213 wrote:Thats what i want in a car, if i buy a GT3 I want that knife to slice though the corners, not the blunt instrument that the GT-R would be. Have to agree with you there, I can never argue against the Z06, it is a "super car" period, and worth every penny. If it was my money, I would be very torn between the two. The GT-R is AWD and that would likely be the decideing factor for me.spazegun2213 wrote:Would i pay for the z06 over the GT-R? well considering its less over here than the GT-R, why not!
Umm I don't want to bust your bubble but you will never EVER find a GT3 for ~$100k. The last write-up I read on the GT3 from 2007 had the "as tested" price at over $129,000. The GT3 RS was just in Road & Track (April 2008) and the as tested price was $143,955.spazegun2213 wrote:As for the GT3, thats ~100k, the RS is ~130-150, and i have no idea what used R8's are going for.
R8s are currently going for $109 and change.
I get what your saying, I do. But let's not kid ourselves, the GT3 RS is a track car plain and simple. I've been in older ones and I couldn't imagine driving that car on a daily basis. It would be a nightmare. It's cramped, rough, loud and ungainly for any normal everyday driving. My guess is that you could strip the GT-R down a bit to make it a bit lighter and it would add some of the edge back, but you would have a hard time getting any civility into the GT3-RS.spazegun2213 wrote:I have one thing to say about the GT-R, sure its a great car, i have NO real problem with it other than it weighing SO MUCH! As a matter of fact YES!avriette wrote:Has anyone posted dyno numbers for it?
Harman Motive recently ran one on their Mustang dyno and it put down just over 400 whp and 400 lbft. the curves are right in line with what a Porsche Turbo puts down on the same dyno.
The article and dyno sheets are here:

I'm always on hand with dyno numbers on demand!

true true, but the fact that i dont fit in either is a problem. I could also shot down the fact that a miata is a razor. The s2k has little torque and once you reach that edge, you can kiss your sweet ass goodbye in the early cars. I drive a hopped up E36, something i ca fit in, toss around and have a good time inSabre wrote: If that's so, why haven't we seen you buy/drive a Miata or S2000?

I just found one for 115K with 2600miles on herdrwrx wrote: Umm I don't want to bust your bubble but you will never EVER find a GT3 for ~$100k. its true, but if i had a gt-3 RS I'd drive that thing to work!drwrx wrote: I get what your saying, I do. But let's not kid ourselves, the GT3 RS is a track car plain and simple. Correct me if I'm wrong... but isn't the Miata a convertible?spazegun2213 wrote:true true, but the fact that i dont fit in either is a problem. put a nice set of coilovers on either and you have razors. Miata's, since they have no power, are really about handling and s2k's are just too twitchy for me. But as i said, i dont fit in either, so its a moot point.Sabre wrote: Correct me if I'm wrong... but isn't the Miata a convertible?I'd hardly call the Miata a razor either. I found it to be a very forgiving platform, as was the S2000 (although I didn't push the S2K I was driving much)
I consider my e36 a razor, compared to my sti. I never got the sti to a point where it felt as light and as nimble as my 328, but i was getting there. The balance on the sti was all wrong, and maybe it had too much power (omg did i just say that?) It really was a brute, loud, harsh, and it ate tires for breakfast
