Sorta Confirmed: US-spec Subaru Impreza STI to bow in LA
To all of you States-based Subie fans, November 15th is your day. At 10:35 AM, the new Impreza STI will supposedly make its North American debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in U.S.-spec trim. The good news comes courtesy of an email received by a Subaru dealer and posted on NASIOC, although it's yet to be confirmed by any of our sources at Subaru. We'll be on hand to fondle the new STI if it does make its debut next week, so as always, watch this space.

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.

I didn't make it up to D&B, I rarely do.
(I had a good excuse this time, honest!)
the closest look-alike to the new Impreza sedan is the Toyota Corolla; the closest look-alike to the hatchback is the Kia Spectra 5 with a Karmani body kit... I used to think I was a "form over function" guy but the Subaru design team is working overtime to refute that.

So true. I'm really eager to see one in person.drwrx wrote:All the "similarities" I see may very well disappear from my mind once I see it on the road. Seeing a car in pictures is different than seeing it in person. It can make all the difference.

I agree. hopefully that whole "hatch" thing will be gone when I see it in person. I was driving by a Mazda 3 Hatch today and swore outa the corner of my eye it was a new sti. My heart stopped for a sec before I realized it was just a mazda. Phew! thank god they don't look alike!drwrx wrote:All the "similarities" I see may very well disappear from my mind once I see it on the road. So I'm at Don Byer (sp?) volvo/subaru last friday to have them transfer the service records to my name for my new wagon. I'm talking with the service person there for a bit, just BS'ing because he looks bored and start talking about new STI's.
I ask about if he thinks they will still sell as well with the new design of the wagon taking into consideration the now well-developed STI crowd. I also ask if he knows when they will get there and if they will have any.
He was positive they would quickly sell out them upon their arrival, but what got me was an expression he used to talk about them.
"subaru just pulls them out of the jelly bean fields so we don't get any information until they are here really".
WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN!? I mean I would assume they get some decent information from subaru but the whole jelly bean field thing threw me off.
Anyways, probably mostly unrelated but just putting it out there.
On topic however, the hood scoop is quite interesting to me being that it doens't have much rise at all, wonder what the potential will be for a swap for a taller one? Also with how sharply the back end drops, it kinda reminds me the hatch bmw z3 thing...
Also with those body lines, it seems like a widebody kit will be made immediately for the new sti's... looks like it would be easy to work and to attach.
