subaru boxers in sand rails

Post by avriette »

http://www.outbackmotors.com/

They have a news page that suggests they're making 900hp on the 3.0L H6. It's kind of too bad most of their stuff isn't really applicable to us; they've taken a lot of liberty with the space available in a sand rail that makes it real tough to fit any of their stuff to our cars. But they've set them up so pretty, it's just neat to look at.

I would bet their EMS stuff is directly applicable, though. And they probably also have interesting heat constraints (given the air flow available to the engine in those vehicles), and may have an accordingly different take on cooling/intercooling. I'm also surprised to not see any WI on the cars they show on the site.

Anyhow, ran across them via:

I had no idea the EJ motors were popular in sand racing. I had expected to see lots of SBC's (which I did, but ...)

Dear god, look at this F6:

They have an interesting motor matrix.

Having all that extra space they can do some interesting things with the exhausts and such.

Their cores are not that badly priced either!

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.
