crazy 280ZX from TAS '07

Post by Mr Kleen »

found this on IGN.com's coverage of TAS 2007. no info and only one pic. I'd love to see more of this one. my first car was a silver 280ZX.

after looking at the photo again, I'm not completely sure if it's a 280Z or 280ZX. the hood is ZX but the front clip looks a little short, particularly the headlight "french." but then again, the car is heavily modified.

S130. Note crease in fender, overhang of hood, B-pillar. I'd also point out the fenderwells, but that's one of the first things S30/31 owners modify when going racing. It actually looks like a famous 280ZX from Midnight Club that was featured in one of the so-cal auto rags ... er, ten years ago or so. It also appeared in the Motorway Express series.

Could be the same car, I suppose. But really, 280ZX's suck. I'm not sure why anyone would want to drive one of those bigass RWD cars anymore.

hint: alex has owned a 72 240Z (L28), a 79 280ZX, an 81 280ZX, an 81 280ZXT, and presently owns an 82 280ZXT. he has rebuilt the L28 by hand more than once, and done more engine installs than he cares to remember.

sarcasm isn't conveyed so well on the innernets. it gets stuck in the tubes.

schvin ftw.

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.

what i gather is that these cars skyline, porsche, fairlady, etc were built to play as ads almost for a manga series called wangan midnight. the cars were built pretty much to spec. but the original devil z(from the comic) was blue, twin turboed, makin in excess of 650hp

The Z in question was built by a member of the Mid Night Club, a group of street racers in Japan. There's an article on Wikipedia about them. At the time, stroking a Z out to 3.1L was absolutely unheard of. These days, I won't say it's common, but it's a lot more common.

Are you referring to a Z32? There's really no reason to twin-turbocharge a L-series block. Further, it's difficult because it doesn't have a crossflow head.

(this is why Alex is going with the SR or RB)
