someone call them and ask why the latest version is such a piece of fermented cat shit. i went back to 6.0.5 until they release a version that doesn't use 100% of cpu resources at the end of every song, causing my machine to freeze up for 20 seconds. apparently it's a common issue with no known fix other than reverting back to a previous version.

Ben, I haven't had that problem... Nor have I had any problems with the latest release. I suppose it helps that I'm running it on a Mac, but I've only got a 1Ghz G4 with 1 gig of RAM. Minimum audio reqs are 500Mhz and 256Megs, minimum vid 1Ghz processor. I'm just saying, I hardly have a new computer.
The few times I used it on Windows, it did seem slower, but I wouldn't expect it to hang like that. What's your set-up and what are you encoding at?

it's not platform specific from what i've read. i also don't believe it's hardware specific. it's buggy software, and it's a known issue for some folks. nobody can find a common element in our machines, though. it only does this on the VERY LATEST version. previous versions of itunes 7 don't have this problem, although some of them have the dreaded sound issue.snaab wrote:Ben, I haven't had that problem... for reference though, i'm running:
p4 2.7GHz
1GB pc2100 DDR SDRAM
256MB AGP video
encoding at 192 i believe... i'd have to check. but i've always set it to AT LEAST 192.
