Crazy Volvo's...

Post by Sabre »

Four variations of these crazy concepts :)
C30 article 1 and article 2, article 3 and article 4 On the first link "...an estimated 507 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and a stump-pulling 468 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,800 rpm."

I kind of like the last one :)

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.

Me wants more information on how long a period of time this would work
Instead of a traditional intercooler, Evolve devised a totally cool solution it dubs the Charged Air Cooler. Integrated with the factory air conditioning refrigerant system, an evaporator was constructed inside a fabricated sheet metal intake manifold. Hot, charged air from the turbos crosses over super-cooled piping prior to entering the throttle body. This dramatically reduces the intake charge temperature making the heated air considerably cooler than ambient outside temperature
Now, I want to know how they managed to fit all the necessary plumbing under the hood and who wrote the logic routine to manage this;
K&N’s latest Typhoon air intake system feeds a KKK turbo with compressor upgrade and a Swedish built Lysholm supercharger. The primary function of the supercharger in combination with the turbo is to provide "big block" performance from a small displacement powerplant. ... . With IPD’s enhancements, output is estimated at a whopping 384 ponies at 7,200 rpm and a mind-bending 408 lb.-ft. of torque at a low 2,200 rpm
408 ft/lbs @ 2.2K rpm?, burnouts anybody?

Wow, shit. Did you see the aero work on the first one? That diffuser almost touches the ground (the one on the back). Volvo was never really concerned with aerodynamics or high speed (ever seen or driven a 240DL?). This must be the "Ford" influence. They kind of look like parodies of the old cars. I'd be interested in seeing that first one tuned down a little and put into street trim (and, uh, the only Yellow I want on my car is Maranello Yellow or Elise Yellow).

Zak and I had a lengthy discussion of the benefits of direct injection the other night. It's amazing the benefits that can be had from it. The problem is, the aftermarket is going to have a hell of a time with it.
