Lego star wars II! i only played the demo and im totally in love. that game is so much fun and ...dare i say..... damn its so cute.. never before has a wookie been able to rip the arms off a human and still remain cute looking. its lightyears ahead of the first lego star wars game. it actually has some more adult oriented humor which is plesantly surprising ... i also recommend that game highly!
Anyways CoC:DCotE is a survival horror role-playing-game in which you travel around trying to solve a mystery. Since I'm only a few levels in i cant really tell you how deep the plot goes...but it's based off H.P. Lovecraft novels.. so you can imagine it gets deep. The gameplay style is failry unique... so far it has been rather linear in terms of key events...but it lets you roam around freely. Since it was developed by Bethesda... think watered down morrowind mixed with eternal darkness.... yes...you have sanity in this game. not only do you start to sorta freak out when you see monsters, gore, etc... but you also experience joyful little things such as vertigo.. i was looking around and stepped out onto a balcony a few stories up and as i looked over the edge you could hear my character's breathing pick up and his vision started to blur and get dizzy... i had to look away and just sorta stand there for a moment to regain composure before moving on. you also need to bandage, sanitize, and stitch up wounds on your body.... it has a system of damage to your head, torso, both arms, and both legs... pretty interesting stuff... if you leave your injuries untreated they have some rather serious consequences.
in terms of scares the game is a mix... granted there are alot of cliche moments.... like where you hear an unearthly growl comming from upstairs... against all common sense the game makes it so you have to go upstairs before the game can progress. you slide open the view-shutter and see nothing in the room...look back and fourth... then WHAM thats when it jumps at the window. we've all seen it a million times. still makes you jump though.. there are other genuinely spooky moments. for example i'd be walking along and just glance down into a cellar window just in time to see something dragging a mutilated body into the shadows, some creature dash past a window, or even waking up to a mob of angry villagers trying to kill me.
the game has its flaws... but they are excusable for how interesting of a game this is. the plot has me genuinely interested and it provides quite the challenge. for example the previously mentioned mob of angry villagers... i have to escape through a hotel, locking doors behind me as i go, jumping balconies, hiding in shadow.... its very hard.... i have the game on the easiest difficulty setting and i spent 20 minutes dying over and over and over trying to make it out. they are right on your tail from the start and making a mistake is just not an option for you...ive never had such a challenging escape level. it really does get the blood pumping

CoC is also a pen-and-paper role playing game, started a little before the World of Darkness (Vampire, Werefolf, Wraith, Mage, etc). Pretty big fan base. Much darker than D&D, but similar process. Cheetos + MtDew + Dice = Fun.
