it started as a joke... me opening up every program on my mac just to see how fast i could get it to lock up..... after a brief lag spike... everything opened up.... it continiued to run perfectly smooth until i felt bad for it and shut all unneeded programs down

lol, that poor mac... How much RAM do you have? It's all about the RAM honestly. If you have 2G or more, you can torture machines. It's when you have 512MB and try to do something like you did that bad stuff happends. There are some things that can be swapped and others that cannot. Windows will force the stuff that should not be swapped to be swapped if it has to (like when you have 512MB of RAM). It's when this happends that your get the lovely BSOD (Oh, and any other time it feels like it, haha).

oh and yes the mac is currently running 2GB of RAM.... however it will be being upgraded soon
