Re: "Nanotubes, nanotubes fix everything."
I've had (and heard) some very interesting discussions regarding the manufacturing processes and safety.
There's an awful lot of gray area concerning permeation levels, containment abilities and production facility design and maintenance.
Somewhat unrelated, I know. But who's looking into how safely these nanoparticles can be created, transported, stored and disposed? What are the consequences of not doing so?

Pretty interesting article! It's amazing how light and energy packed new battery technology is.
Colin check out the CDC doc on it. Here are some more:

Honestly, as with every new material, it sounds like "maybe"

That's exactly the point. We don't know how these nanoparticles affect us. We don't know how to manufacture, package, transport and dispose of them safely. And both science, industry and regulation are not coming up with answers quickly enough. And "oh, by the way" the answers to all of the above questions could be different for every single unique nanoparticle developed.Sabre wrote:Pretty interesting article! Could be coal-lunger's all over again. Could be modified/damaged DNA. Could be something completely different. Could be nothing at all.
Like I said, an interesting series of discussions.

You know...
small, thin, fibres ... sure makes me think it'll have the same physical impact when inhaled as asbestos.
