Something else to consider if you're going to have to gank the rears appart - group n mounts?

trying to get a smoother ride, so no Group N top hats.

woe unto the if you need to conact Tokico's tech support line.

you have to press "1" every 18 - 20 seconds to be kept on hold and after a few times the automated system won't recognize your "1" and you'll get dumped into a different menu with no way back to Tokico tech support. if you decide to press "0" to get the operator instead of staying on hold, you'll get a voice mail box because the operator isn't available. nice...

I finally broke down and left a message for the tech support team. Like they'll EVER call me back.

I'm not finding much info on anybody else having this issue. I just don't see how that spacer would make the springs in that were included in the kit line up with the stock top hats.
the diameter of the springs is more than an inch larger than the stock top hats.

if tech support would just take my damn call this would be cleared up in 5 minutes.

PTuning had no idea what I was talking about and directed me to call Tokico directly. I wonder what they would have done if I had asked them to install the kit vice just buying it there?

Why the spacer is needed

I quickly read through it, but I think this might answer the question.

I may well need the spacer, but I really feel that there is a missing rubber seat for the top of the spring. The noise I am getting is a constant scratching sound and I think the rear is a little lower than it should be.

edit: add to all this the fact that I'm using the top hat that came with the kit.

Or I'm just crazy.

Equally possible causes...

I agree with the rear looking a little lower than the front. It looked strange when you pulled into the spot.

It came with my coilovers :/ I'm guessing we could all do a Home Depot run and run the same exact thing!

I'm sure it's not the spacer. I'm not using my stock top hats, I'm using the top hats that came with the kit. are you guys even reading my posts?

I need #2 from an 02-03. I think.

the guy at the Tokico technical help line called back (YEAH!) and tried to help me out. he said that the 2004 didn't use the rubber isolator and I needed to be sure that I had the correct springs (5104R) and that they were seated correctly. I'm going to check them now but I'm also ready to buy a set of OEM Upper Seat Backs for $13.63 each.

oh, I could build YOU a great Indy car. but for me? no way in hell would it ever work.

looks like I screwed myself on this one. the rear springs are upside down for some reason that made sense on Sunday but now, now so much. the Tokico rep said that the rears didn't need the rubber isolator so I'm going to have PTuning flip them for me. I swear they looked correct and seated better that way.

PTuning thought it was very unusual that the springs didn't have a rubber seat. We shall see once I get her out on the street...

Matt suggested splitting a hose in half and using that to cover the top coil on each spring, said that quieted down the springs on his Bronco.
