monkee - on the iphone, you can use either the "main" one, or the mobile special one. make sure you are using the one from http://m.google.com/, not the main http://google.com/reader

shotgun free from the regular app store (and yes, free). much fun around the office as long as folks have a sense of humor.

also, wolfenstein 3d. i heard there's a cracked version on cydia for free (i snagged it for $5 from the regular app store before said crack :( ).

UnDead Live has taken up a considerable amount of time. Definitely check it out... and if you do, join my Pack :)

I've been playing a lot of Bookworm. It keeps me busy when I'm waiting on planes, trains, and automobiles.

Those aren't two pillows!

I loved Marble Madness in the arcade (If you liked that, there are a lot of good clones). This looks right up my alley!

Mobile Air Mouse is on sale for $1.99. has anybody tried it out? I think I might take a $2 chance on it.

on a related note: JumiMouse turns your iPhone into a touch pad

finally got around to jailbreaking 3.0. not going to use winterboard this time around... too much of a hog on the 3g's memory for my tastes.

on that note, i caught wind of a thread on modmyi.com that discusses how to free up memory. deleting any unnecessary language packs from each app (via the ifile app... free in cydia) frees up a substantial amount of memory on the 3gs and a marginal amount on the 3g. folks with the 3gs are reporting blazing fast load times. i deleted all the unnecessary language packs on my 3g and i notice a slight improvement; nothing to write home about. it did seem to decrease load times by a second or 2 though.

So I finally did it....I jailbroke my iphone. :) Wasn't as bad as I thought. Used redsn0w 0.8 with the 3.0 software (wouldn't recognize 3.0.1). First time around, it hung (redsn0w itself crashed). After I toweled the sweat away and tried again the process went straight through. So, current setup is a 3G with jailbroken 3.0.1 it would appear.

I guess I'm off to explore Cydia and look for apps. I'll cruise this thread for recommendations (as I seem to have a whole nother app store available to me) but any updates would be appreciated.

I do have a question though. Do I need to change anything that I do with the phone now? I mean, I still sync to iTunes, can still buy apps on the app store if I want, etc? From what I gather, the only thing that has changed is that if I ever need to restore I'll lose everything because jailbroken stuff isn't backed up, correct? Here's to hoping that never happens....god, what a crushing day that would be to have to reload each app individually.

Anyway, any further advice is always welcome.

you need to make no changes to your routine.

sync as normal with itunes. it won't back up your cydia apps. when you're ready to upgrade to a later os, run a full backup first. there is an app on cydia that lets you back up the app names (not the apps themselves) that you have with one touch so when you re-jailbreak, you get this app again and it'll download all your cydia apps for you...... but i can't remember the name of it. it's probably in this thread but i'm running out the door.

I think you're talking about aptbackup. Saw it while I was browsing and was very happy to have discovered it.

So the only caveat left that I've seen is the updating process. Just gotta be careful when Apple releases new OS versions and make sure the jailbreaks are out there for it. Treat it as a restore rather than than an update, follow the directions online, and all should be well, right?

Very glad I did this. I've got some cool new apps and capabilities and I like the feeling of being able to toss a small "f you" to apple and at&t for the crap they've pulled recently. That really was what did it for me. They truly do seem to have taken what could have been a great thing and completely and totally wrecked it. So sad.

Now to go figure out if iRealQuickSMS is worth the price they're charging for it.........

absolutely make sure that redsn0w or w/e jailbreak app you use will support a particular os release first.

iBlacklist-Cydia-$12.99: Allows you to block calls and/ or SMS messages from specified numbers. Can also hide SMS previews from prying eyes requiring you login to the phone to view the message.

I've been playing around with the free trial for a while. It seems to work decently enough. The trial only let forward unwanted calls to Voicemail but the full version would also let you forward them to a Busy Signal, send an AutoReply SMS, or Accept and Hangup on the call.

I like the SMS Privacy function however, when you get an SMS the "new message number" doesn't appear on the icon. A seemingly minor inconvenience but gets confusing when the phone's on mute and start buzzing at you then can't figure out why, at first.
