Libra Monkee wrote:Not quite. Nothing's shipped yet (stupid Amazon) and according to my order status, won't until May 26th. So I could still modify my order and take the remote out. Is RF capability really worth another $30?

Do I want to be that much of a j00 about it?
It's certainly nice to not have to worry about line of sight with a remote.. It's also a huge help if your gear is in a very bright room, or at least one that gets heavy sunlight.

That being said, I'm IR only and have been just fine. Ymmv.

If you want to have your hw in a cabinet with wooden doors or even some glass doors (frosted, tinted) you'll want RF. If your couch backs up to a very bright window (the sun is a source of IR light too, and can wash out the signal from the little LED in the remote) you may want it.

i'm seriously debating getting one. my current harmony is having issues. the screen only displays on the upper half for the first minute, then when the bottom half "warms up" there are horizontal lines all over the place.

Glorious! Mine arrived yesterday... at the wrong address. My parents have it. I guess the last thing I bought from Amazon was for them so it defaulted to their address. Hopefully they'll mail it to me before my dad sees what's inside.

Logitech's software isn't very OS X friendly, at least not to my macbook. :| waiting for the Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 2 to download because I've tried all the other troubleshooting tips...

edit: OK, java update didn't fix the issue. macbook sees the remote is connected via USB, remote displays the USB Connected Icon, but software won't recognize the remote is connected.

downloading logitech software v 7.5 as the version on the disk was 7.4.

edit 2: so far v 7.5 seems to be working. now to reset my account because i can't remember my password. i think it's BS that logitech makes you keep an account on their server, would be a HUGE PITA if you had more than one harmony remote in the household.

I haven't had a single problem with the software on my air or the imac, FWIW. Hate to use the phrase, but, it just worked.

For those on the fence about ordering the adapter - DO IT.

It works very, very well. It's quick to respond to commands, the layout on the remote is nice... Even the wife can play a DVD on the PS3 now with no intervention on my part.

Ultimate victory achieved. 8)

my setup is working with only one hiccup, not with the PS3 adapter but with the Harmony 1. I really need to find time to trouble shoot it further...
