Re: 800+hp Porsche 911
I didn't realize that they stopped making the Carrara GT
What a shame, that is a beautiful car. It's interesting that they are using GT30 turbo's instead of 35's. I'm guessing it was to keep the spool quick.

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.

Re: 800+hp Porsche 911
Just looked at the graph... It's extremely linear (Like they said the the article). To us, it would almost seem like too large a turbo, but they way it holds power up top and the trq curve are very nice.

Re: 800+hp Porsche 911
IMHO the 911 is a much more attractive car than the Carrara GT (horrible engine placement notwithstanding
).
I was never a fan of the GT myself.

Mr.Kleen speaks like a heretic. In any event, I have recently found renewed appreciation for Porsche. For a long time, I was very lukewarm on them, but now I want one again.

I guess it doesn't help my case that I supported to switch to water cooling.snaab wrote:Mr.Kleen speaks like a heretic.

Re: 800+hp Porsche 911
It certainly is a power-band any large turbo Subaru or EVO would love.
The whp and torque peak at the same spot (5,750 RPMs) the hp stays to the 6,600 RPM lift and the torque drops about 100 lb/ft.
Very impressive. However, I think I'd want to see some clear track time improvement before I dropped the kind of coin Switzer is surely asking for. Occasionally, big gains in power don't add-up to big gains in performance. Porsches are a bit notorious for this.

honestly I just love the Gulf livery, especially on a car as sexy as a 911.

I don't think I'd even know what to do with an 800hp anything.
Beautiful cars though. I also agree with the good Dr.

If it were socially acceptable, I would paint every vehicle I own in that schemeMr Kleen wrote:honestly I just love the Gulf livery, especially on a car as sexy as a 911.
