For those of you who know Amber, no it wasn't her, but she was there yesterday when this happened.
Apparently, the bike's (Kawasaki Ninja 600) steering dampener failed after turn 9 on the Main circuit during a practice session. The handlebars tankslapped, the rider (Chad Sisler, 30) was ejected into the bridge abutment, and fell dead on the track. Several onlookers, including Sisler's wife, witnessed the fatal crash.

just over 1 fatal crash every 2 years. i guess that's a good record (unless you're the 1/family of the 1/friends of the 1)Sunday’s wreck was at least the fifth fatal crash at the raceway since October 2001, according to Herald-Mail archives.

Re: Motorcyclist Killed at Summit Point
Damn, RIP. Condolences to the family.
At least he was doing his thing when it went down. It's also a painful reminder of why I hate relying upon a steering dampener - when it goes, your're out of luck.
