If loving you is wrong, then I...

I seem to have fallen for the Kia Soul. At first, it struck me as an also-ran beside the xB and the Cube, but increasingly I like the styling, especially in a time when the xB has ballooned out into the next zipcode. Top Gear mag says the Cube is superior but the Soul is more fun to drive. I like the play on "Seoul", and like the trim levels.

If it had a Hyundai badge, I'd seriously consider it. Good work Kia, you've come a long way.

On the flip side, the Amanti is the ugliest thing I've ever seen. I can't help but imagine Kim Jong-Il being chauffeured in one. Yes, I know it's a separate country, but it looks ugly enough to come from North Korea.

It's not that cheap!!! Build one with "normal" options and it gets really close to $20K fast.

Go 'head, axe me how I know.

Believe you me, I sat there pricing them out. I would be totally down for a base model. The only problem was, it comes with two speakers? What the Christ? I don't want to drop thousands more just for some damn speakers.

Ignoring the poor pricing scheme, it's the best looking Kia to date.

Saw a Kia Soul on the Beltway this morning. Had to do a double-take as I had no idea what it was from the back. Nice looking car. It had NY plates and a guy driving who looked suspiciously like RJ. Something you want to tell us, RJ? ;)

Review: 2010 Kia Soul deserves to be breakout hit for brand
Autoblog wrote:Young buyers these days seem to care less about cut-rate performance cars and just want a vehicle that will fit their lifestyle of doing stuff while being entertaining to drive and look at. The Kia Soul seems like a shoe-in under those criteria. Its styling is all but universally praised, its price of entry is eminently reasonable, and its driving demeanor exceeds expectations. All-in, we look for the Soul to be Kia's breakout hit that wins comparo crowns, sips fuel, hauls stuff and has a great time doing it all. While we may have approached the Soul steeled for disappointment, we walk away impressed and now think of Kia's backpack-wearing wild boar as one of the segment's standard-bearers.
