Logitech Harmony Adapter for Playstation 3 -- official, real, and in our hands

Yeah, sure, we knew the Harmony IR-to-Bluetooth remote adapter was coming down the pike, but even with FCC filings and official confirmation of the device from Harmony, the PS3 owners among us are breathing a small sigh of relief now that we've got our hands on a unit that prove it will make it to market. We have a love/hate relationship with the PS3's Bluetooth remote control -- the range and total non-directionality of it are great, but having a separate remote control just for the PS3 is a real stick in the eye of our couch potato lifestyles. There are a few choices for solving the PS3 remote control conundrum, but on first blush this unit has three things going for it: support from a big name like Logitech (of course including codes in the Harmony database), it does not eat up one of your PS3's USB ports, and it handles switching the PS3 on and off (not unique, but some other solutions don't). We'll give the IR-to-Bluetooth converter a full rundown in due course, but follow us past the break for our initial impressions, an official fact sheet and a link to a Q&A section on the Logitech blog.

I might have to get me one of those Logitech Harmony dealies at some point. But first I need a decent speaker setup. Right now I'm using computer speakers. Granted it's these computer speakers, but still.

Yea, I saw this a week or so back, glad someone posted it. If my TV actually used a standard remote interface (they use some proprietary IR interface that only their remotes can do - ) I'd be more excited about the Harmony.

This poses a question: Harmony users, are you relatively satisfied with the remote? Which model do you have? Does it fulfill all of the hopes and dreams of the couch potato inside you? I ask because I'm tired of juggling 5 million remotes.

This one's for the speakers, that's for the TV, the other's for the cable, here's the one for the Apple, and that's for the HP.

Verrah happy. Both the women can work the Wii, Comcast box, Receiver, PS3 and Apple TV completely by themselves.

I can't vouch for the PS3-compatible model, but the 880 that I have is a God-send. Similar to Colin - the female of the house can use all the A/V equipment w/o my assistance or coaching. Very handy!

Oops! Sorry, didn't read the announcement right. I meant to say I haven't used the PS3 adapter so I can't vouch for it. But the Harmony remotes are excellent. I'm on my second one now.

Okay I got the 890 with the PS3 adapter from Amazon. Total damage: $178.98. Yes there was free shipping on both items.

I really need a better way to spend my money.

For our money, the Logitech Harmony Adapter removes a pretty big gripe we had about keeping the PS3 in our equipment list, and it does it for a tolerable $60. Until we spring for a dedicated Blu-ray deck, we'll stick with the Logitech Adapter.
