Sick and PS3
I would like to thank BIOSHOCK for taking up most of my weekend. I was sick and needed rest but this sweet game kept me up and haunted my dreams. Close to beating it in one day on Saturday. I took breaks to pass out. I hear there is a second one, too. Sunday, Xfiles season one kept me preoccupied. Good stuff. I am three discs in on season one and have 9 more seasons to go. That is all.

Fallout 3 is a gas: it will expand to fill any available space/time.

I've been playing a lot of Killzone. Just something about finding people and making them dead always appealed to me.

Re: Sick and PS3
If you had to buy either Killzone or Fallout 3, what would you recommend?
I'm currently making my way through Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Little Big Planet and GT5 prologue.
Methinks I'm leaning towards Fallout 3 just for the RPG-esque feel to it... I've always been a fan of the games that are a cross between side-scroller, fps, rpg and strategy. Generally, that keeps me from getting too bored of any one style of gaming.
Also, do we have a network ID for ps3 thread yet? I know we have it fir teh Wiis out there...

2 very different games there. if you're into multiplayer fragging then pick up Killzone 2. if you're into RPGs with lots of action and a great story, pick up Fallout 3. but a word of caution on Fallout: it's buggy.complacent wrote:If you had to buy either Killzone or Fallout 3, what would you recommend?

Re: Sick and PS3
Fallout 3 (I hear) is basically Elder Scrolls Oblivion IV with a different backdrop. Since that game didn't do it for me I never had a desire to try Fallout 3.
Killzone 2 is your standard FPS. Run, duck, strafe, shoot, repeat.
Actually, the games that have been getting the most of my time on the PS3 are the Penny Arcade Adventures games. I've already beaten the first one and I I'm nearing the end of the second.

Re: Sick and PS3
the story is tighter and the world is even better realized, but if you hated Oblivion then Fallout 3 probably won't change your mind about action RPGs.Libra Monkee wrote:Fallout 3 (I hear) is basically Elder Scrolls Oblivion IV with a different backdrop. and don't forget that you can download a demo of Killzone 2 for free. it's a damn pretty game, might have to pick it up used...

Re: Sick and PS3
I like action RPGs! Hell I'm playing through FF VII: Crisis Core on PSP now! But Oblivion was just boring. A lot of running (a LOT of running) from one location to the next and what action I did find, didn't last long and it was back to talking to people, trying to make their facial expressions change. After a while I lost complete track of the story and didn't know what the hell was going on.
Now if someone would tell the Fallout is an improvement on that, I might be inclined to rent it. Thus far, no one's been able to.

I got the demo of Sonic Unleashed and it's pretty fun. I keep thinking about buying it, but I've been spending most of my time playing Super Smash Brothers' Brawl for Wii. Damn you games with numerous trophies for me to collect obsessively!

I played that demo
It was SPASTIC as all hell. Everything seems to move at the speed of light! Think 2-3x the original sonics... in 3D no less. lol, maybe I'm just getting old...

Re: Sick and PS3
I played that demo. I was... unamused. I think Sabre hit it on the head when he said it was "spastic". I mean, you pretty much just run along a track, jumping every so often to avoid spikes and bottomless pits. The enemies don't require that you aim for them to hit them. The rest of the gameplay consist of holding "right" and watching as the level whizzes passed you.
I, for one, think Sonic should go back to 2-D. The 3-D world has done him wrong.

I know, I'd probably beat it in a day, but it was brightly colored and fast paced.

I held back on offering my opinion on this game until now... I wanted to make sure I gave it a fair chance.
I will admit, the first three hours I played this game, I was frustrated and unimpressed. There were simply too many options out there. Now that I've started over a few times and learned more about controlling the main character as well as fighting "smartly", I have a different take on it - It's not too bad. It can easily become a huge time waster. Easily enough for the sig other to notice.
I'll give it a few more days before it goes back to blockbuster. Who knows if I'll pick up my own copy.

Re: Sick and PS3
Ah, Fallout 3. I'm trying to give it it's due. I really am! I made it out of the Vault (that part I liked), wandered aimlessly for about 15mins., ran into some kid, talked to him for another 15mins., then proceeded to my ass handed to me by giant fire-breathing ants. Seeing as how my only weapons were a baseball bat, billy club, and a pistol with 12 rounds in it, that fight was doomed from the get go.

Re: Sick and PS3
Too... much... walking. Why do all the enemies come from behind me? This guy can't beat his own meat. Great, you shot my leg off... again. I've got guns but my most effective weapon is a board with nails in it. Still... more... walking. Why don't any of these cars work? You remind me of a very young Scrappy Doo. I would kick your
if I thought I could win the fight. Ah, fire ants that breathe fire. BRILLIANT! This isn't how computer hacking works! Why... so much... walking? Whaddaya mean I can't fast travel when enemies are present?! That's the best time TO fast travel! What is that big rancor looking thing? I don't know but it just took out three people carrying Gatling guns and now it's looking at me. *looks at board with nails* Well, that's enough of this game for now.

I think this game is laced with an addictive chemical. I crave it more than fortnightly.
