Joystiq hands-on: Need for Speed SHIFT

Post by Mr Kleen »

Joystiq hands-on: Need for Speed SHIFT
The game is 95% pure racing simulation, with a bit of arcade feel thrown in.

The dev team wants this to be a racer that is best played from inside the car.

I'm reserving judgment. Too many times I've heard previews of games where the writer talks about how realistic the gameplay is and how "human" the AI seems only to actually play the game myself and think it's total crap. NFS will be hard pressed to compete with the GTR series in my opinion.

it's all early impressions of an unfinished game, but they're at least aiming for targets that I'd like to see hit.

If Xbox 360 gets a driving sim to rival the GT series on PS(1-3) I may just have to part with some hard earned plastic...

i liked NFS specifically because it was unrealistic. when i went back to, say, PGR, i knew i had to behave and drive like physics still mattered.

This sounds like the kind of game where you need a full on driving cabinet to drive the car instead of guiding it by remote control.
