I haven't tried the script yet, but I have to admit it sounds like this could be very useful in a variety of ways.

it's a clever approach. i recall seeing a unix version at some point.

i am all over taking some of these ideas (promisc detection, arp tracking/watching, etc.) and trying to apply the ideas to ipv6 (where there is no arp, but there are other discovery protocols, etc.)

Might be an interesting project. IPv6 is full of opportunity I think.
