I'm getting txt message spam on my cell phone! two today, so far. it doesn't display a number so I can't block it. it mentioned matchtrip dawt org but I've never heard of that site.
I can't reply or forward either message. the only options are Save, Delete and Info, the other options are greyed out. when I hit Info it gives me the time the message arrived but nothing else. so far I've only received the two last night.
I've gotten a few sporadically over the last 7 years (how long I've had this phone number). I wouldn't worry too much, they usually go away quickly enough.

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.
I just got a phone call from a company that did not identify themselves explaining that my warranty was "almost expired." I thought, gee, that's peculiar, Subaru knows I've only had the car two years and change (in fact, it's two years this month), and they've seen me every 3,000 miles like clockwork, so they know I'm due in in 2,000 miles and that at that point I'll have 24,000 miles. So color me suspicious.
Guy asked me for my "customer number" and I said, uh, you know, I'm not in my car right now, of course. He says, that's fine, give me your name and make/model. Wow, really suspicious now, right? I said, wait, you don't know what make my car is? If this is SOA, even if they don't know whether I own an Impreza or the Fail Whale, they still know that I own a goddamn Subaru. I was even inclined to hear a guy out if he said he represented GM/Fuji or Fuji/Toyota. But the guy says, well, we cover a few million car owners.
I says, but I just own the one car. It's not like it's hard to know which car it is if you know I own a car (and no, the Z is officially in paperwork-stealth mode). Guy starts backpedaling and making up some shit about blah blah blah when I hung up on him.
What really pisses me off is this is my work phone and I'm pretty conscientious about not owning a phone at all (no seriously, I'm like Kaczynski without the bombs). So this almost had to be some random dial bullshit, and the guy is not only spamming me, but he fucking wants to ownz me too?
Number is 918-375-2671. Checking the interwebs reveals they think I'm some kind of chump.

Here's a NY Times article on the subject. It specifies AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint as taking measures to block SPAM messages. Verizon's even gone so far as to open 8 lawsuits against SPAMmers. There's even a smartphone utility from Symantec to check for and delete SPAM messages and any viruses that they might carry with them.
