I've got a few machines running it in teh labz. Be sure to check the application compatibility page as well as the known issues page just to be sure.

I've heard from very disparaging things about SP3, and I'm usually an early adopter. Just back up anything you absolutely have to have and have a go at it

Re: Microsoft Service Pack 3 (SP3)?
I've got a few machines running it in the office. Our xw6400's have it (hp), and I've also installed it on an hp 8710w. No real problems, really, but I've also run the various updates in addition to sp3 (it takes another download/patch/reboot cycle to get to current, I guess). For what it's worth, it does seem more stable than Vista. Also, caveat user: most of the tasks we do in the office tax the applications, not the OS (picture, uh, Mathmatica running full-tilt while the OS sits idle).wrxSIN wrote:Im still using windows xp and im on SP2. any reviews on SP3 yet? i got some dumb auto-update alert today but im not gonna install it quite yet.
And, if you care, it plays nice with other OS installs. Running it happily with Kubuntu Hardy +KDE4 on my desktops and on the 8710w, which belongs to one of my more clueful users (I figured he could rescue himself if he ran in to trouble; he uses Leenucks for red-teaming and XP/Vista for blue-teaming).
Only problem I've had is with the xw6400's, I had to set the BIOS to emulate parallel ATA until the second round of patches went through, and then it supports – I think? I don't remember the name – Ultra or Fancypants DMA or ... whatever.
