Why is it that every song i hear i think of her? I think of us?
Another thing I've heard a few times this week is this. "Its better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." That guy can kiss my ass! losing that love sucks, especially if you know it was only one sided.

Dude? Girl is gone?
Was it "It is either the racing or me?"? I would have chose racing, too.
Sorry to hear, Ross. It sucks but you will get through it. It was probably for the best anyhow. More fish in the sea...just watch out for sharks

yea, unrequited love sucks.
I'm hoping some time with friends, and the bottom of a bottle with help me forget.

Alcohol is okay in moderation but you don't need the bottle, you need more track time w/ the Corvette! Drinking will only make it worse. Give me a call on my cell and we can do lunch if you are up to it. I am working in Sterling today.spazegun2213 wrote: I'm hoping some time with friends, and the bottom of a bottle with help me forget.

Alcohol its better than nothing at the moment. As much as i need track time, the car is not ready, needs more money and I'm really tired of working on it. Thanks for the offer about lunch, but I'm in falls church now.sirwilliam wrote: Alcohol is okay in moderation but you don't need the bottle, you need more track time w/ the Corvette! I can say from experience that the only way to truly better yourself is to heal and allow yourself to be open to love and its possibilities again without malice or prejudice. I know it's *much* easier said than done. Here's wishing that is sooner rather than later.

We all know I'm one of the biggest (if not, THE biggest) advocates of alcohol on these forums. But there's no such thing as "drowning your sorrows". It may help to ease the pain for the time being but as soon as you sober up all the feelings come rushing back and to help make up for lost time they brought their friend Hangover with them.
Alcohol isn't supposed to make you feel better. It's supposed to make you feel nothing. If you need help telling the difference, meet me at the bar.

I've had a few drink-to-forget experiences... matter of fact, about a year of one, actually. The curious thing about alcohol is it causes depression but does so slowly, so you don't notice that you're getting more depressed over time. More drinking doesn't necessarily make it happen faster, but consistent drinking almost guarantees it. It's really kind of surprising if you just don't have a drink for a month, what it can do to your mood.complacent wrote: And Ross - Drink to remember, never to forget.
And as far as forgetting chemically, well, there are other ways to do that. Alcohol as a psychological fix is really problematic because it has so many additional effects that aren't psychological, and its psychological effects are more manifold and subtle than most expect. Putting in thumb-tacks with a sledge hammer as it were.
Ordinarily, I'm happy to suggest people use drugs (and by this I mean Rx) to get over short things like this, but in the light of recent events (not having anything to do with you; this stuff seems to be going around right now), I'm inclined not to, as it's not helping any of the other people I know get through it.
Sorry, man. It's the pits. And not in a good way.

I think my consumption last week was probably around 300% more than i drink in a normal week (if i drink at all). At that point in time, to forget, or feel numb, thats all i wanted. I knew it was bad when I'd wake up with a hang over and be happy that my heart did hurt anymore. Funny how short they last when you are in that position.
I hate to say it but I'm actually very competent about my alcohol consumption dude to "family history." I know I'm past that (although i do like beer a LOT more after this week) since i can talk about it with a calm head and not start balling like a little girl.
I'm sure I'll come out with you all tomorrow for dinner and a few drinks as well. I need to get out and do things.. hell i have a hankering to go back to murphy's because, other than creepy 50 year old women hitting on me, I've never had a bad time there! So what are you all doing friday/saturday night?

I'm 80% in for Wed, but I'll be down south with my rents for a Bday this weekend.
