He said he's been testing it on another vhost. I'm just messing with him though, I don't care it's not like this forum is broken.

Ya, we've been testing it since RC2 on a vhost. We're planning on several upgrades come Jan08.

Exactly!! Besides, I'm sure every single early adopter has never been burned before...

All in do time, all in due time.

Not necessarily...

I've just been around enough to see all the nerdy fanboi's with their "ZOMG NEW VERZ1oN x.x.1a!!!!!111" installations run like crap, debug even worse, library b0rking, dependency confused and such...Myself included.

or

You're stuck emailing back and forth with teh devs the first two months after you made the system production. Then it's the whole rat-race of chasing obscure info on mailing lists, google groups, forums, etc. Half of which have been/need to be bablefish'd just to be read.

Been there, done that, got the :censor: t-shirt. I like my products to "just work." Hence the general lack in urgency. ;)

I am always cautious with any sw/hw/os upgrade, vendor agnostic.

There is definitely a balance between adopting a new version right away or waiting till the next version comes out before adopting the old (I knew some shops that waited till Win2k3 was out before adopting 2000!).

We'll get there, but when we do it, it will be a batch upgrade/test of a lot of interacting components.

I've been bitten by upgrades in the past when I was younger and less experienced so I know where Colin is coming from. I'm all for testing, but like you said you've been testing for months :)

That being said, it's only a forum and not some hugely complex system of interacting components like facebook or myspace. I'm not saying you should upgrade right away, just like the discussion this created. Safe and steady is definitely the best way to do things, but being too safe can also bite ya in the butt.
