That was a fantastic day... weather was perfect, great to watch the cars, company was excellent. Hope lots of folks can make it tomorrow. I'll try and get pictures up next weekend (I only took 3GB of them, will take some time to go through).

That was a lot of fun. Lots of great cars and good times! Makes me want to run next year ... after a lot of preparation, though.
Ross - great job! It was nice to meet Katie, too. Hope to see you both at a meet soon.
Darrin - Btw, I've got your grill, charcoal and lighter fluid. Oh, and the DCAWD sign. Wanna meet up for lunch sometime this week and "transfer the goods"?

it was a good time yesterday! It was really nice to meet some new faces and see old faces again.
It's very cool that you guys come out as a group to events like these. You guys really do stand apart from most others "clubs" or "groups" in the area.

How about we shoot for thursday at 11:45 at Five Guys in Tyson's Food Court. I've been craving a Five Guys burger for a while now.
I'll post this in the Thursday Lunch Meet section as well.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the DCAWD members & founders that came out this weekend to show your support for the RedlineTimeAttack. And a special thank you goes out to everyone that help us setup our tent and showing your support for Ross and our turbo tC. Sorry I didn't get a chance to talk you everyone at length, but being that it was our first track event with the car, we were pre-occupied with setting up the car and making sure It was safe and competive for Ross to drive.
Let's make this event an annual outting for the DCAWD club. Now if only we can get more Subes entered into the Time Attack event next year.

Thanks marti,VIPGarage wrote:PTuning and company looked awesome with that Tc. I was loving the sound and look of the car.
Sorry I didn't get a chance to walk around the paddock to say hi to everybody. You guys need to step it up and enter a car in the event next year, especially the AWD modify. It all good friendly competition. We need to make this event a big east coast event, since it's the only thing around here that gets TV coverage--free advertisement.

So, uh, Sandy took a whole lot of pictures. Unfortunately, the shutter speed was set to 1/32 for most of the motion shots, and this meant that most cars are a blur (think about this: 60mph = 88fps, 120mph = 176fps, so the car moves anywhere from 2-5ft or more per frame). I cranked it way back towards the end, after realizing what was going on, but still most of them didn't turn out. The stills are fine. Some of the motion pictures are fine.
Anyways (When I started this post, I didn't have a smugmug account. Wow, they totally kick Flickr's ass. In fact, they remind me of Flickr before they became Yickr.), I think the most badass photo of the day is actually Mr. Monkee. I gotta get the man a pistol and a trenchcoat or something.
Oh, and no boob shots (well, 'cept the Amazing Three Boobed Chick), sorry. Also, I will be uploading the rest of the pictures (from the Sony, I only got the Nikon today) probably tomorrow. That stupid camera uses this wonky mini-memory-stick thing that requires special parts to read. Gr. Before the next event, I think I'm going to walk Sandy through "So you bought a Nikon SLR..." before hand.

I wonder if we could put together a DCAWD car. Maybe Julian will get his sorted out by then.MrC@ptuning.com wrote:You guys need to step it up and enter a car in the event next year, especially the AWD modify. It all good friendly competition. Nice pics! From the looks of them it seems you could also use a UV filter?

There was a UV filter on the camera. Sandy nagged me all day to take the pictures, but I didn't want to be saddled with the camera. It was pretty hot out (and thus sunny out, this is why the pictures were so blown out; I tried for a moment to get Lightroom to fix them, and just decided it wasn't worth it), and carrying around the shoulder strap etc was just not what I wanted to do. In hindsight, I think I probably could have spent more time with Sandy at least reviewing the pictures and the setting. We have a D200 and she essentially just told it to do everything on its own, which it obviously sucks at. Also, the 18-70 lens leaves a lot to be desired, but it's really the best compromise between the 200-300 and the 60mm. The 60 is really sharp, but it's a fixed lens, and not everything happens at that range. Anyways, maybe the Sony did a better job with the "moving targets." She took some video, too, which I think actually has audio. It's not the greatest camera for video, but it's priceless to see those Evos screaming around the tracks, sounding like they're > < this close to exploding.Phibs wrote: Nice pics! Fun was had, skin was burned, cows were eaten, and bits were written. Not necessarily in that order.
