Next version of Windows: Call it 7

Post by Sabre »

Report
Like Vista, Windows 7 will ship in consumer and business versions, and in 32-bit and 64-bit versions. The company also confirmed that it is considering a subscription model to complement Windows, but did not provide specifics or a time frame.
When are they going to scrap all this shit and start over with a clean slate? The longer they wait, the harder it will be. Yes, we might have to give up some compatibility with libraries that only 5% of the programs use out there.... I'd GLADLY do that for a lighter weight, faster and more stable OS.

windows 3.1 > Vista
getting shot in the foot > Vista
being constipated for 2 weeks > Vista

I am right there with you, Julian.

Meh... I've been playing around with vista at work and at home since some of the earlier betas.

It has some potential.

It has some crap.

doesn't strike me as any better or worse than any other enterprise intended OS.

Meh, Windows 2000/XP has been quite stable for me. Although I'm surprised that they're not ditching 32-bit in the next version of Windows.

When are they ever going to make that jump?

I totally know someone with an iProduct, and he said it's awesome. It comes with a free reach around from Steve Jobs.

Funny, I remember using that same argument at another time and place with an entirely different group of people when XP was first introduced.

The more things change, eh?
