FS: Used UTEC with Selector Switch

Post by WRXWagon2112 »

I'm selling this on behalf of a friend who used to own a bug-eye WRX sedan - before he got one too many speeding tickets. He parted out the car and traded it in for a stupid Mitsu Endeavour SUV (since replaced with an Accord Hybrid). But he still has a few go-fast parts to sell off.

Case in point: a UTEC with the selector switch. He's looking for $600.00, but if that's too steep for some of you, he may entertain some REASONABLE offers (none of this "I'll give ya $5 for it. What? Aren't you desparate to get rid of it?").

If I had the money I would've bought it already. My financial strain is your gain. Lemme know if you're interested. I can always bring it to any of the DCAWD (or NASIOC NOVA) meets. Tom Sullivan? 8)

Whoa a Utec for sale?

Awesome, i am interested. What makes the UTEC from turboxs a better buy then say some of the other hardware management systems?

or is it on par with all the others?

600 is a little pricey for my wallet, but I am always open to negotiation, i got cash!!! No really, its in my wallet.

I presume this UTEC is for a WRX, not a STI. The main difference in the harness, but there are additional hardware differences too. Unless Alan's friend had a STI, this won't work for you Tom :( Sorry to tell you that! The newer UTEC's for the STI/FXT are dual processor and able to control things like ACVS.

BTW, UTEC's are installed on probably 80% of the modded WRX/STI's out there. Very proven product and TurboXS is right around the corner from us, so you know you'll always have help.

Good point, Julian, this UTEC is for a WRX. So I doubt that it would be good for your STi. Sorry to tease you with the prospect of a UTEC, didn't mean to get your hopes up like that. In fact, it totally slipped my mind that they are model specific.

Well, I think brand new UTECs are on the order of $1,000.00, so $600 for a used one I would feel is reasonable. You'll probably find the same for STi-specific EMs. Good luck on your EM search, though.

Anyone else interested?

BTW, he's also got a set of 17" gold OZ Superleggera's with Pirelli P-Zeros that he wants to sell. I'm just researching a good price for them before posting up.

In your research, see if they will fit over a 04 STI's brembro's :) I've been looking for a set that will on the cheap!

Sorry, no trades. My buddy's out of the sports car market now - he's got a hybrid Accord now.

I knew some Hybrids were faster since they have instant torque with the electric motors, is that the case here? I want to see some 0-60's and 1/4's!!!!

The Accord Hybrid is the fastest automatic Accord available. Here's the Car and Driver evaluation ...

http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp ... le_id=8779

Edited for the lazy people: "It also has the best performance of any Accord four-door, outrunning the V-6 automatic by 0.3 second to 60 mph and 1 mph in the quarter, to 93 mph in the end zone."

And to get back on topic (I know, I know, I'd rather talk cars too), I've e-mailed my buddy about parting out the UTEC and selector switch.

Hope to hear from him soon.

Just heard back from him and no, he would rather not part it out.

And to add to the bad news (for anyone interested in this UTEC), my buddy and I have reached an agreement on a payment plan for this EM solution. That's right, it's been sold to me! So congrats to me, sorry to all the prospective buyers, and the forum mods can probably close out this thread.

And while you're at it, how about giving me a cool new title? Like "Soon to be fastest NOVA wagon" or something?
