Anybody out there that knows about road racing bicyles?

A good frine of mine died last year. While back at home this weekend, I helped his wife get some of his old stuff out of the house.

I have two sets of clip shoes, two helmets, tons of Italian bike-ware for all seasons, one top of the line frame with sproket, bar, seat, and wheels, and a top of the line carbon and magnesion Trek bike like Lance Armstrong used, complete with derailers.

Anybody out there good at appraising cycle gear, or can reccomend a place to take them to for a fair price estimate?

I lived in philly for several years, and I had my share of road bikes, though I'm not a professional at it. Any ideas what brands the frames are? Any fixed gear (sprocket spins when wheel spins and there is no coasting) or single gear bikes? these seem to be the hot item nowadays.

One is fully assembled. It is a Trek special edition US Postal Service Lance Armstrong Tour de France frame with Campagnola sproket, crank, and calipers. Carbon fiber seat stem & magnesium bar.

well just from your description it sounds like it's worth more than my first car. sorry to hear about the reason for the sale. [I was going to use the "sad" emote but it just didn't seem respectful] a friend of mine passed away suddenly just before Labor day last year. I was just thinking this weekend that it had been a year now. time passes... I hope your friend's wife and family are doing OK.

I am big into the stuff, so if you could send pics (of anything everything) and a description of what they are (manufacturer and junk) I could lend some help. If i dont know what it is i know people that do and would probably buy it too.

Thanks for the inputs guys, it was really tough cleaning out his closet and storage shed. Thit is one of the reasons why I want to make sure that I don't disgrace him be letting his equipment go for less than it needs to.
There are a total of three frams, one fully assembled, and between the two others components, one whole bike can be made. Also tons of bike clothes & acc. All pics (smaller) can be seen in the Bike album at http://photos.yahoo.com/zaxrex.

ok, thats an older OCVL frame (late 90's early 00's) It has a campy group on it (i think its their 9 speed, are their nine small cogs in the rear??). The wheels are not racing wheels (I'm willing to bet they are a training pair). The fork is super nice. the bar and the stem look top notch, and the seat is to die for. As for a complete price, i would say 2-3K, but let me see what my friends say.

Do you mind if i repost these photos in another forum?

Yeah, from looking around at Trek Tour de France archives, I thought the closest looking was the 5500-5200 from about 2002. The only way I can really get a date on it would be to measure the front fork tube as they made it 1-1/8 OD in 2001.

I took it to Spokes Ect. near Shirlington and one of the techs looked it over. He said because frames go out of style quickly and the 8-speed sproket in the rear is old school compared to the 10-speed that is in favor now, he said it would go for about $800. As I was walking out, the older guy at the front desk said I would be looking at ~$2300. Pretty large spread, eh?

If you have the time, I'd love to get more input on this and the other two frames/gear

Sure, i have some time, but as i said i may need to consult other people.

Also, With that trek frame, a quick glance would say over 200. But it does have a 8 speed groupo (super old, and i though it was 9 speed). But 800 is still a little low. I would say I would not let if go for less than ~1000 and if someone offers 1500, take it

Anyone who is looking for 8 speed stuff will jump on it becuase its getting hard to find. But other than that the campy stuff shows its age.
