It's sad, but clinging to this thought is what allows me to continue in life.

Not sure if this was posted elsewhere:

VID LINKY

Hmm, new turbo, new intercooler, new ECU mapping? I would love if the new STi got a twin scroll...then I could throw one on my ride finally!

:plusone: Yeah if the Impreza looked like that when I got mine I'd probably have an Evo.

IGN.com had a preview and the reviewer pretty much shared our opinion. I'd throw up the link but IGN is blocked from work, and they don't have any pix or videos that we haven't seen already.

I want to see some sort of front end conversion on the hatch and then we'll talk.

I doubt that will happen. I think this is the "painful" transition phase that automotive companies always go through before coming into a new, better, more aerodynamic design...but this is just my hypothesis.

Cross post from NASIOC general.

I can't tell if it's aftermarket or not but the front end looks improved. However, it's still a hatchback.

Well, got the latestest R&T yesterday in the mail and it has a head to head comparison of the EVOX and the 2008 STi. Just thought I would share that with you all.

Okay, I will give you two pics (I like the new wheels...very nice!):

Image
Image

Both do est. 0-60 in 4.5secs. and the 1/4 mile is the same est. 12.5secs.

STi comes w/ 320HP & 320FT/LBS

Still, it looks like a Focus/Mazda 3 love child...but it is growing on me.

Also, it comes w/ SI-Drive like the Legacy GT/Spec B which I think will become a standard on all cars. This is good b/c Subaru engineers are making the ECU more programmer friendly.

When subaru said the STi would be "more aggressive" looking i was hoping they were referring to fender flares. thank god they were! I still think the 2.5i and WRX are hideous. But the STi definitely looks better. but damn there has GOT to be a huge blind spot on that STi

I thought that SI-Drive only electronically adjusted suspension settings and shift points (for automatic transmission-equipped cars)? :? Didn't think it had anything to do with the ECU.

No, you are thinking of something else. The SI-Drive works similar to the real time map changing on the COBB AP but more sophisticated b/c it comes from Subaru. Basically, it gives you 3 modes or 3 maps: Fuel economy mode, standard/normal mode, and a sharp mode (quicker throttle response). I don't think the sharp mode gives you any more power...think it just adjusts the throttle duty values. (NOTE: these 3 modes are the ones found on the Legacy...but I think the STi is the same.)

Here is what it says on the subaru.com site:

"SI-DRIVE: Operated by the driver from a rotary dial mounted on the center console, this three-mode performance management system controls engine variables to deliver a range of acceleration characteristics. SI-DRIVE is like having three engines in one."

My subiesport magazine has a better write up on it but that is in PA. I will try to print that out for you.

Also, from what they said in Subiesport, the economy mode was made for Japan traffic and not the traffic we have here in the states. So I am guessing it didn't really help much w/ the stop-n-go we have here...dunno.

I like the wheels and I'll admit the look has improved. From what the WRX is now. But, it's still a hatchback.

meh. i'm still not pleased. i love the euro focus,P5,mazda 3,S40,kia 5 and all the other world market hatch backs. and i like this hatchback just fine. i just don't like it as a wrx or sti.
the R&T pics looked pretty chopped so maybe the sti can still come out lookin more aggressive. i guess like everyone else i'll have to see one in person
