Can't say I didn't see this coming.

Post by Libra Monkee »

Browsing through the IMDB it seems the will be a Wolverine movie coming out in 2008. A few words about the plot:
Plot Outline: A prequel to X-Men. Wolverine lives a mutant life, seeks revenge against Victor Creed (who will later become Sabertooth) for the death of his girlfriend, and ultimately signs up and goes through the mutant Weapon X program.
Right now it's still in the rumor phase but it's more than likely that we'll be seeing this in theaters sooner or later.

it has potential, but only if they don't present a watered-down version of wolverine. he was a ruthless killing machine before being tempered by professor x.

Sounds like it could be awesome, as long as they adhere to what you all said in keeping with the comics storyline.

Hopefully, they get the story straight and possibly introduce Gambit to the camera lights...that would be pretty sweet.

Hmm, they got Wolverine cast perfectly but who would play a good Gambit? Clive Owens?

I would have to say they did a piss poor job picking for Cyclops and Rogue...I also would have picked someone better for Jean Grey/Pheonix. Okay, I will end my rant.

Oh, and here is a pic that shows Gambit in the back middle:

http://media.digiturk.tv/forum/attachme ... 1152634911

He can energize any object to turn into a weapon but is known for mostly using poker cards. He has a cajun accent and also has a staff/bow that he uses as a fighting weapon as well.

I second the motion. Cyclops was entirely too "pretty" and rogue's personality was too meek from how I had her imagined in the comics.

The first mistake was they were too young, second cyclops was supposed to be taller, third rogue is suppose to be a seductress of sorts...ah, I will stop ranting again. I am such a dork.

Well if we're going to get technical isn't Wolverine supposed to be shorter? Like 5'2" 5'5" or somewhere around there?

Yeah this conversation is getting a bit nerdy. But anyhow, when the first movie came out they said that it's supposed to take place before Rogue met Ms. Marvel. Which is why everyone is so young(ish) and why Rogue can't fly.

the following is rated IMHO

I thought the casting for just about everybody in the first 2 films was excellent. there are minor differences, but overall I (as an old X-Men fan) was very happy. the relationship between Wolverine and Cyclops was perfect and I think that's due as much to the actors getting the chemistry right as the writers. the age thing was a little odd, but understandable given the need to adapt so many stories to the screen.

everything fell apart for X3 once Brian Singer left.

wow, I'm still a geek after all these years...

I have to agree with you there X3 had good action but as far as keeping with the story, not so much. I have to say though, I never got to read The Phoenix Saga comics, primarily because my older brother wouldn't let me touch them. But I did see the cartoon when it used to come on Fox! :D

This thread is BACK FROM THE DEAD!!!1!!!

We went to see Slumdog Millionaire last night. One of the trailers was for X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Which can now be seen on the Apple trailer site.

Although I'm a little unsure of Liev Schrieber as Sabretooth, overall this looks pretty kick-ass!

it won't be as inspired as some comic book moves of late but it should be entertaining.

uggh. i wish i wasn't such an old school comic nerd. i dispised all the x movies. i wish i could watch one and not sit there and rant about everything that is wrong with every scene. i'll prolly wait until this one comes on on demand. something like spiderman is alright cuz it's only four or so characters they are messing up. we all saw it coming i just wished it would be more true to something that i remember. nuff said bub.
