I remember saving for an entire year to afford a 9600baud modem... It was sooooo much faster than the 2400 it replaced. I thought I was the king of teh usenet at the time... ROFLCOPTER.

No fuckin way man. I buy two kinds of modems. Or, bought, to be specific. Supra Hayes (2400 and 14.4k) and Telebit Worldblazer (19.2k+), although I might be tempted by a ZyXel.
Wow, thats a fast one!! When I was cleaning out my mom's place a couple years back I found a sub-1kbps modem that you put your telephone handset down on... TCP/IP-over-Carrier-Pigeon would be faster!
