When I worked at Microsoft, this was the phone they were going to give all us field guys because it runs Winners. The problem is that Cingular doesn't give you any of the applications that make Magneto (WinCE 5.0) useful. Pocket excel, pocket powerpoint, pocket word, and so on. So they'd have to reflash all these phones in-house. Second, the phones, while being real nice and thin, were incredibly fragile. The people beta testing the phones broke them left and right. They stuck with the HTC Tornado/Wizard last I checked.

I really wouldn't recommend the Q.

here is a side-by-side.

http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/compar ... &id%5B%5D=

both phones are great. the thing that sold me on the Q was the daily-use factor. i think i'd be happy with the blackberry if i was using it strictly for business and business only...but im not. I need a phone that will keep me happy for the next two years. while not necessairly important to my daily life, the Q CAN play music as well as take pictures and video. normally I wouldnt see this as a deciding factor (wellt he music isnt since i probably wont take advantage of that) but i use the picture messageing often to send things out to friends as well as my intern for visual reference on things

also the memory card slot is a bonus
If I may, let me give you my list of daily gadgets. I carry my Moto V620 (it's essentially the same as the Razr/V600, only imported from hong kong) in my right pocket. In my left pocket, I carry a carabiner clipped to my belt loop with a 512mb memory card, a 16kb memory card, my iPod nano, my leatherman, car keys, and keys to the datacenter at work. When I carry a laptop (rarely), I carry a 12" g4 iBook (by hand -- I got rid of the backpack/briefcase a long time ago). Oh, I also carry a Tucano neoprene case with my Etymotic ER4s and my Nike+iPod with the phone in the right pocket.

The point is, what more could you ask for? I mean, all the portable memory you need (that 512 card is actually an SD/memory stick reader, so I could go to 2gb, but the nano is 2gb). The phone doesn't have to do everything, and it shouldn't. A phone should be a phone. All those other devices fit quite comfortably in my jeans. It sounds complicated, but when you get used to it (the carabiner helps a lot. You just take it off in the evening, put it on in the morning), it's extremely easy to carry everything with you in two pockets.

(The V620 does video and stills, complete with sound, and if you drop it, it will not break. it's a clamshell.)

This thread along with Ross' over at NASI-UCK have got me jonesin' for a new phone.

Thinking of sticking w/Cingular and possibly getting the LG CU500. Assuming I can afford it...

Thanks a lot CD, this is all your fault! :D
