Hiroyuki Ikeda, Subaru Europe's President, announced at the Paris Motor Show that the development of the H4 turbo-diesel boxer is almost complete. The design, pictured above, reveals two interesting tidbits: first, the turbo, which is traditionally housed towards the passenger side firewall on most Subarus, will be moved south of the crankshaft to retain the boxer's low center of gravity. Second, the new DOHC diesel will be outfitted with a timing chain, currently only seen on Subaru's H6 engines, and will be the first H4 so equipped.

Oh... Now this is something that I have talked about on several boards: That in 08, they will give us AVCS on the intake and exhaust as well as moving the turbo to a better position... Man this makes me excited about the 08 to see what they have coming~!

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.

except i seem to recall some complaints aobut desil in the sports capactiy... jermey form top gear was mentionig while driving a desil audi that it has loads of torque...but it all comes in one massive lump that is there and gone before you know it...

but what i really am curious about is....what does a diesel boxer rumble sound like?

Oh, I'm hoping for the improvements I listed on the gas engine, not the desil :)

I too wonder what a boxer desil will sound like!

Don't tell Audi that diesels are bad in sports cars. Their millions of dollars in the R10 development. Too bad nothing can beat it.

At $70 mil per year, they can make a transmission that takes the advantage of the narrow torque band of the diesel.
