Well anyways my one close freind (who is the one who actually got me first interested in checking out imprezas) has this rather sexy GC8
it's set up to be a JDM clone... even has the JDM STi seats and dashboard in it. other than cosmetic, mods are limited to borla hush headers and a 3" axleback. god it's a fun little car though.

I'm actually considering buying this... its a bit of a tough decision.. .either i buy a 04-05 STi... and only mod it slightly... or i buy this 01 GC8 and start putting tons of stuff on it over time... i really wouldnt consider buying a GC8 except for this one. and my buddy said he'd happily sell it to me

Chuck <3's the two door and wishes the STi came that way. Imagine how that car would look with the 05 front end or maybe with the profile the 06 front end might be better. Chuck wishes he had Photoshop skills.

Dave has noticed chuck refers to himself in the omnipotent 3rd person... lol but yeah.... the only reason i'd take this over the STi is.. if i were to upgrade it.. it'd be alot rarer. i mean there arent too many beefed up GC8s around here

Nope Dave (Aquacow, who usually hangs out on NASIOC) has a RS->STI conversion.... that's as close as we get

Oh ya.... Part of the problem is that the chassis just isn't meant to have that much power, the other part is that they guy who he bought it from (There was the original owner that did the converstion, then a new owner and then Dave) took off some parts and switched some others around. It was perfect from the original owner, but the owner between Dave and him screwed up some stuff :/

If you are a particularly skilled mechanic (both with wrenches and electronics) a swap is a cool way to go. However, it can easliy turn into a "project car" and never truely become a full fledged daily driver. I have seen a couple of these end in disaster and frustration. Do some math up front and fugure out how much money and time you expect to put into the swap and see if you have the will both mentally and financially to finish the job.
