Subarus in Europe

Post by snaab »

I got back from Europe (England, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria) last night. My trip was in half for a number of reason, that I won't go into, but I wanted to comment on the lack of Subarus in Europe.

I saw less than ten in the week and a half that I was there, only one of which was an STI. I wondered why that was until I checked the cost of an STI

40,900 euros?!

For those of you not familiar with the exchange, right now, that's approximately 52,600 US dollars. Add to this the $6 a gallon gas, and I fully understand the lack of Subarus.

Even my rental car was costing over 50 euros to fill. Rental Car

I did manage to push it to 205 kmh though :nana:

Yeah, cars in general are insanely expensive over in Europe. That's why there's so many little compact and sub-compact models runnin' around with teeny little engines (and diesels and stuff). It's all about the euros ...

Fixed.

You got to realize that those may be expensive but all the european models that we pay an arm and a leg for BMW, MB, etc. are a lot cheaper over there. You know they are cheaper when they use MB for cabs

That's pretty shocking!

I'm amazed that Subaru's are so expensive over there. With their weather (I'm thinking about Wein(Vienna) Austria) and roads, they would seem like ideal cars.

BTW, what did you think of Austria? :)

Mmm, not to counter your point or anything, But when I went to Italy this summer, I actually saw just as many as over here. When I was in the airport there was an STI in the parkinglot. Then one night we went clubbing and there was a blue STI with rally stickers on it. Unfortunately I didnt have my camera handy with me for that. It looked really cool :D

And the one last thing about gas, we have to cover more distnace than some some places in Europe. Atleast where I was in italy, th comuter distance was a lot less than here.
