I am dumb and need a question answered...

Post by sirwilliam »

I am perplexed by the fact that, while viewing a forum, sometimes the pics don't show up when I use Firefox. But when I view the same forum thread using IE, the same pics that were missing using firefox magically appear.

Why is this? I know I am not superiorurly edumacated in the ways of internet browsers...is it b/c the pic format/code is setup specifically for IE?

pics sometimes take longer to load in ff, or they might not be cached for ff to use while they are cached with innerweb exploder...??

that's all i got.

No, they don't take longer to load, they just don't load at all...no little box w/ an X or anything...just blank space.

So this is just a coding thing, right?

I've noticed that, too. However, try refreshing the page in FF and sometimes they magically appear.

Maybe FF has a little troubling loading the pics and then gives up? Just needs to be kicked in the patootie to try harder?

I don't know - I got nutin'.

i usually find that when they don't load in ff, they don't load in innerweb exploder either, which usually is a link or hosting issue, not ff itself.

do you have any ff extensions that block certain scripts, such as adblock or an image blocker? adblock sometimes blocks legitimate images.

seriously, i'm reaching here.

i had that problem only once while using safari. im not sure... perhaps its the BBCode? obviously each browser works differently... there must be something "lost in translation" or perhaps it is some shoddy coding that leaves it up to broswer interpretation which sometimes results in "wtf pwnt" images

I only use FF and have never had a problem :( I have a feeling that it might be some of the extensions that you're running though. I'm only running a few:
NoScript
FasterFox
Tab Mix Plus
Colorful Tabs
Google Browser Sync

There was actually a thread about this. IIRC, Ben p0wned us all in the sheer number of extensions loaded....
