after my various 8+ hour treks to the Midwest solo, 4 hours is a walk in the park.

BTW: hope your dad is recovering well.

For More Information

What batteries are affected?
Those sold from April 1, 2004, to July 18, 2006, either separately or with these notebook computers: Latitude D410, D500, D505, D510, D520, D600, D610, D620, D800 and D810; Inspiron 6000, 8500, 8600, 9100, 9200, 9300, 500m, 510m, 600m, 6400, E1505, 700m, 710m, 9400 and E1705; Dell Precision M20, M60, M70, and M90 mobile workstations; and XPS, XPS Gen2, XPS M170 and XPS M1710.

How else can I tell if my battery is subject to recall?
The battery will be marked with "Dell" and will also include the wording "Made in Japan," "Made in China," or "Battery Cell Made in Japan Assembled in China." The ID number for each battery appears on a white sticker. The batteries were made by Sony Energy Devices Corp. of Japan.

What if my laptop computer's battery falls under the recall?
Consumers are advised to stop using the batteries immediately. Laptops can still be used with the power cord.

How do I safely remove the battery? Flip the laptop upside-down. The battery is a rectangular slab, either at the front or the back of the computer. Look for a lever -- it often has a lock icon -- and slide it to release the latches holding the battery in place. The battery should then slide free.

How do I get replacement batteries or find more information? Dell is launching a Web site, http://www.dellbatteryprogram.com , telling consumers how to get free replacements. Consumers can also call 866-342-0011 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., EDT.
