There's a bit of discussion going on about this on the Miata forums. The Miata doesn't have a lot of power and it hasn't needed it because of it's relatively light weight. Adding a power hardtop adds a ton of weight. Some people would love a real coupe, like what was offered overseas, some people like the idea of not needing a hardtop and some people want to go back to the old barndoors' sleek 2,100 lbs. I'd like to see it in action and feel the weight difference before making any decisions on it myself.

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.

any 2100 lb car with 300rwhp is NOT to be fucked with. Turbo the little miata and it will run down vipers and the like - with ease.
Keep in mind the car already has:
Perfect 50/50 weight distribution
Dual wishbone four way fully independent suspension
perfect wheelbase
2100 lbs
the body sits low, low drag ce as well.
Properly tuned... from say flyin miata? you have a real beast. period.

What are you referring to here? The 2100lbs. Miata I was referring to is the original NA 1990 one w/ the 1.6L engine and 115 crank hp, about 90 hp at the wheels. W/ a Greddy kit, that can hit around 170 hp, maybe. A lightened NB 1.8L engine w/ a FMII kit can hit 220hp on stock internals for over 3 years before croaking. 300rwhp is entering overkill power for the Miata, IMHO. Just this past weekend, we were having lots of fun embarassing M3s at a BWM autox.complacent wrote:any 2100 lb car with 300rwhp is NOT to be fucked with.
