Even thought there aren't many games that use it yet there are a few on the way. Has anyone heard about this? Apparently this card (a PPU as they're calling it) handles the load of rendering the physics in a game so all you're GPU has to render is well... graphics!

NVidia has hinted that they might release drivers that when coupled with a SLI setup, will take some of the extra processing power to devote to something like this. I'm all for it is it creates better environments!

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.

I still think this sounds like a cool idea and a way to get beeter graphics processing out of yuor GPU. Now they just need to come out with a version for laptops.

No big deal
The thing is, if they incorperated something like this in a laptop, that's just more energy that will be sapped from the battery. Doesn't matter, it's still cool stuff

Yeah but even in some of the more hardcore laptops like the Alienwares, XPSs, even HP's zd8000 series battery life is only about 45 minutes to an hour anyway. So you're used to carrying a "10 lb portable desktop" battery life isn't that much of an issue because you're almost always plugged into something. The battery just serves as an internal UPS because it doesn't last that long to begin with.

I usually get about 2.5 hours out of the crap Dell Latitude that Fannie gave me. I would NOT carry a laptop that gave me less than 2 hours. That's absurde!

I've got a Toshiba Satellite which gives me about 4 hours and a Dell E1705 that give me about 2-2.5 hours. But my work laptop is a HP Pavilion zd8000 and gives me about 1.5 from the time it's unplugged. But it's also not using a mobile processor, just a full on P4.
