All the above said, how does the Evo compare to Honda’s S2000? There’s NO comparison!!!! They are two completely different animals and shouldn’t even be spoken about in the same breath.
this is where the article should have ended. and this is where I stopped reading it. who cares what this guy thinks? his buddies with S2000s. that's it.

next issue.

it his gross misinterpretation of "facts" that blows me away, not to mention that this article is posted on the home page... it isn't just aimed at evo's he threw WRX's/STI's/SRT4's/ and a whole shitload of other cars in there

Anyone else get the feeling that he's feeling inadequate? Maybe he should pay more attention to the "Get a l@rg3 Pen|s" e-mails I'm sure he gets.

While I'm sure he thinks he knows alot about the two+ cars he's comparing, he really has no clue. He tries to dispell the fact that the is comparing apples to oranges, he really doesn't do a very good job. A better comparison would have been the Miata, RX-8 or new Pontiac Solstice. Even the Z3/4 might have come into play.

i'm not a fan of things written specifically to entice anger... it's not a terribly mature document.

a friend of a friend has an s2k, and he went on for at least an hour about how the s2k was a superior machine to the evos and stis he'd seen on the track. everyone has their own opinions, i guess.

EXACTLY :)

One big point the guy failed to mention: Personal preference and driving style. I've driven high HP rear wheel drive cars and really did not like the handling. I love the fact that I can get my STI sideways, punch the throttle and pull through the turn in a controlled manor. Most of you know my experience in a C6 was not nearly as nice.

hmmmph...driving the 2 cars for a few mins will not suffice a good opinion. Owning both will show the ups and downs of both cars. The guy knows his stuff, but can't execute the knowledge properly.

No, nobody lost to a sunfire. That is like a BUGATTI VEYRON losing to a stationary exercise bike.

I'm always suprised at what people will say dispite having absolutely no data to support their veiw point.

a “stock” Evo can be tuned (at significant expense) to turn just as well as an S2000

Out of the box a stock EVO bests the S2000 in nearly every performance catergory!
S2000: 0-60: 5.9, 1/4 mile: 14.4@97mph, 60-0: 116 ft, .90 skidpad, 700 ft slalom: 69.2mph
EVO: 0-60: 4.8, 1/4 mile: 13.4@103mph, 60-0: 109 ft, .89 skidpad, 700 ft slalom: 68.9mph

The best (verified) numbers I've ever seen a S2000 run on the track was a Car and Driver test of modified 4 bangers back in Sept. 03. A Comptech modified supercharged model that had over $30,000 worth of mods (engine, suspension, brakes, wheels, tires, ect) was the best performer of the bunch and what did it run you ask:
0-60: 4.7 sec.
1/4: 13.3 @ 108mph
Road course time: 66.3 sec.
stopping 130-0 530 ft.

Compare that to the Vishnu Stage 1 car that ran against it that had only a turbo back exhaust, a reflash, rear anti-sway bar, and a set of Volk Racing wheels. Hell, it didn't even have cams! The estimated cost $3,400 in mods (and the wheels are half of the total cost!).
0-60: 4.3 sec.
1/4: 13.0 @ 106mph
Road course time: 66.3 sec. (yes, exactly the same!)
stopping 130-0 527 ft.

So how did the S2000 win the comparo? One area only 100-130 mph where the weight and aerodynamics of the S2000 paid big dividends 9.8 sec vs. 12.0 sec. for the EVO.

That's what $64,000 into a S2000 will get you; 2 seconds faster from 100-130mph over a stage 1 Evo.

Who is kidding who here?
