How much brake fluid?

Hey all,
Anyone know off the top of their head how much brake fluid a 04 STI uses? Planning on putting in the Blue sometime soon

I bought 1 container of SuperBlue and had a LOT left over after a complete flush and fill. I can't remember the exact size but it's the standard one I see advertised.

I would recommend doing the brake lines at the same time. as long as you're getting covered in brake fluid...

Ya, I was thinking that too. Looks like the going rate is somewhere around 75$, that sound about right?

I got my goodridge for $89. And ATE super blue is GREAT. I had virtually no fade during my track days... i would recomend that setup to anyone.

i got goodridge lines for my Si and the WRX. may cost a bit more but i don't mind paying a little extra the peace of mind when it comes to brakes.

Julian, let me know when your going to buy yours, cuz I'm gona grab a set as well. We can buy them and fluid together and save some cash. We can also do our swaps on the same day. I don't own jack stands, but I do have 2 sets of ramps and a floor jack!

I bought the fluid already (9$+6$ shipping) and am getting ready to do the brke lines. After thinking about it, I'm going to take Gabe's suggestion and get good stuff for the lines.

Have you found a good place to get the brake lines? If so, let me know

I haven't had a chance to look.

I'd definitely like to do the swap together

I happen to know someone with a set of jack stands <cough> Zak! </cough> that will probably let us use them

The best price on Goodridge lines is $95 from JSC Speed and World One.
JSC Speed also has Techna Fit lines for $79. I keep seeing prices for them at $129 elsewhere.

Oakos has Goodridge lines and speedbleeders combo for $120.

I'll look over in the Nasio* vendors special section as well.

IIRC they are meant to stay on the caliper, to replace your standard (slow-bleeding) screw.

I may very well want to get in on this as well. Interested in splitting the cost three ways?

We'll deffinately need to cooridinate on the purchase.
We'll need 3 sets of lines and probably 3 litres of Super Blue for 3 complete swaps.

If we do the speed bleeder and lines combo from Oakos, $120 each, plus 2 litres of super blue, $18 each, that would be $396 plus shipping brobably another $20.

Colin and I would of course have to pay more for the fluid and shipping costs, but that will still should be pretty good.

Shall we do one order from Oakos for the speed bleeders/SS brake lines or should we just order individually?

I didn't install speed bleeders and didn't have a difficult time bleeding the brakes, but it is a 2 person job. a bit messy, but not difficult.

when are we doing the spring install fest? Spring?

The last time I did it I also had two people (actually it was a group of four) and it wasn't that tough. I could pass on the speedbleeders if we decide we don't need them. How often do you swap your fluid? And if we decide to get the Techna Fit from JSC Speed for $79 x 3 and the 2 liters of super blue from where ever for $20 that gets us down to around $260 plus shipping.

Let me know what you two decide, you will b more demanding than I.

I wonder If I'll have problems with the lines since I have STi Brembos up front and the stocks in the rear? I wonder if they will sell the lines as a mixed set?

Problem is, they are from MachV....

If you think the quality is as good as the Goodridge lines, I can swing by today and pick them up from MachV (it's about 10 minutes from here).

I wouldn't mind doing the speedbleeders since I plan on having this car for awhile.

Make your decision soon so I can call MachV and see if they have it all in stock!
