Mazda 6 for 2nd half of 2013 will have an option for a 2.2 L sequential turbo diesel. And if that wasn't good enough, there will be two power output versions;
148 hp 240 ft/lbs
173 hp 310 ft/lbs
Seriously.
I can haz commute with torques?
Yes I can!
I hope this means that Subaru will get their oil on over here to compete.

They need to use the world's largest shoe horn and install that in the Mazda 2. I'd buy it! When my current 2 dies...

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.

Not really "competition" but, VAG also offers the A3, A6 Avant, and the Q5 in TDI liftgate form.

Us and the auto journalists dream of this, everyone else could not give two shits about it. Much like the CTS-V wagon.

A6 diesel sedan shows up Fall 2013. So hopefully they sell so they stick around a while.
But I agree, nobody else but us cares enough about the Avants for them to be sold in the US.
