In the US it will be powered by either a 120-hp 1.6L or a turbocharged 1.6L with at least 180 horsepower. The turbocharged MINI Cooper S Countryman will reach 0-62 mph in 7.6 seconds while it takes the MINI Cooper Countryman 10.5 seconds. Both models can be mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Mini's ALL4 all-wheel-drive system is only available on the MINI Cooper S Countryman.

I love it! This might be enough to turn in the toaster.

Maybe...

says the man who owned a mini tuned to the ragged edge... :poke:

if i want something small with a bit of power, awd, good ground clearance and still get decent gas milage - this might be on my shortlist.

i would have loved to have a regular mini, but the lack of awd scared me away. this might be enough for me to reconsider.

They look like someone took a shrink ray to a Cayenne, and I love it.

...and then turned it inside out so that the hideous Cayenne exterior became a much smaller but equally heinous Mini interior?

I had more powah at the weelz than those cars do at the crank (and more by double digits). :nana:

There's no reason MINI can't put out a car with 230hp or more from the factory. The JCW trim level includes an upgraded turbo and supporting bits. Thing is, its only 30hp up on the base Cooper S (rated power). In reality, that gap is narrowed as the stock Cooper S JCW puts down but 15whp more than the underrated base Cooper S.

Add to that the insane pricing.....get a JCW with any options and you're on the high side of $35k in a hurry.

I'm a HUGE MINI fan (we've owned two) but its clear the enthusiast go-fast crowd is not their goal. It was for the last-gen. They're more satisfied now with making cars with 'Lounge Leather' interiors (seriously).
