How is it that I am posting this up and not one of the Apple nuts, I mean fanboi's, I mean guys/gals?!?!?
Looks pretty decent, although I'm still waiting for 4G service to roll out before I'm putting money into a new phone. My iPhone 1 with an Edge connection is doing just fine (expect when I use the internet's, haha)

I dig it. I use my cell phone camera all the time. throw in a bigger battery, better antenna
and a better screen?!? suddenly I'm thinking I should pony up the $18 and upgrade
now.

The 40% bigger battery is
huge.
I was pretty impressed with how far they've come in a few years.
After carrying an android device full-time for 6 months... I'm honestly disappointed.
Tons of potential, but there are way too many UI design issues (text input, stability, text manipulation, menu design consistency, hw build quality, etc) for me. I'll most likely run home to iphone4 and
other than AT&T will be much happier for it.

how nice of at&t to allow current iphone users an early upgrade for a modest $18 fee. wow. at&t's ceo must be in the running for philanthropist of the decade!
or, it's a tarp.
*ahem*
http://gizmodo.com/5557583/why-is-att-s ... o-generous
The other, more intriguing theory is that there's something coming in the next 6 months that's got AT&T so worried, they're cutting the upgrade cycle by 25 percent. Something like the possible end of their exclusive hold on the iPhone. I'm not a huge proponent of iPhone on Verizon rumors because they have always and forever been piles of horseshit. But, the unmistakable aroma of desperation around AT&T's new upgrade plans, mixed with rumors from what most would consider a reputable news source (the Wall Street Journal) that a CDMA iPhone is in the works, well, the idea suddenly smells a little rosier.
i'll wait to see what verizon's return serve is (and htc's as well).

i would be highly interested in picking up in an unlocked unit...
i'm sure it won't be long for carrier unlocks to work on it, but i'm dreading the 2-yr renewal with at&t.

currently the only reason why i'm in a holding pattern.
it's not a huge deal to be stuck w/ at&t, though, since i hardly talk on the phone.

apple to consumers: "f*** you. you're doing it wrong."
http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/24/appl ... olding-th/
So, we just spoke with Apple and got the straight dirt on the reception issues that have been plaguing users today... and it's a little surprising. In essence, Apple cops to the fact there are reception issues with the new iPhone -- namely, that if you cover the bottom-left corner of the phone and bridge the gap between the notch there with your naked flesh, you could see some signal degradation. Yes, you read that right: it's not a software or production issue, simply a matter of the physical location of your hand in regards to the phone's antenna. The company's suggested fix? Move your hand position, or get a case which covers that part of the phone, thus breaking contact. As you can see in the email above which just arrived in our tip box, this is a sentiment which runs pretty high at the company.

I saw an interview on TV that Apple says the signal strength indicator is "miscalibrated software display and does not show the actual signal capability"
Yeah, just a coincidence that the phone shows decreased signal strength when the hand shorts the plates...
Go Apple!

So... the REAL reason why the iPhone failed at WWDC wasn't due to WiFi interference

BTW, I got to play with one this past weekend. Impressions:
The screen is beautiful. There is NO aliasing that I can see and the colors are bright and well represented.
It's fast... like REALLY fast. Admitting, I'm comparing it to my 1st gen iPhone, but it's startling when you compare the two. Launching Pocket God easily took 5x the time (about a minute) on my iPhone vs. the new iPhone.
Just found an interesting article.
Early benchmarks of the iPhone 4 show it to be 31% faster than the iPhone 3GS
I'm sticking to what I have always said though: I'm not switching till they bring out a LTE/WiMAX(ya right) phone.

lol, Retired Navy Seabee Craig Bissett wasn't happy with his iPhone 4 problems... so he shot it with a Barrett M82A1 rifle.
