400 were imported to the US in 1977. This is how mine looked the day I bought it in 1991.
Then I started modding it.
front & rear Montecarlo bumpers; Montecarlo euro-headlights; Montecarlo one-piece nose trim; two piece molded air dam; double-bubble 037 style hardtop roof; Montecarlo series II grill & badges; Lancia logo tire valve caps; Vitaloni baby turbo side view mirrors; body stripped to metal, zinc chromated & sprayed with PPG Testarossa red paint, front and rear hoodpins,
Cromadora 14 inch magnesium Daytona wheels; Abarth red Scorpion wheel center caps; fresh Toyo Proxes R888 205 X 55VR14 racetires; Koni struts all-around; Montecarlo suspension springs all-around; Bremo cross drilled brake discs all-around; Repco Metal-master brakepads; steel-braided brakehoses; brakebooster removed & bypassed; reinforced rear crossmember
Engine has been thru a variety of phases. Have big dual sidedraft carburetor setup for track or a single performance downdraft carb for streetability in Tysons Corner traffic.
Rebuilt 1800cc block with Borgo 9:1 high compression pistons; 40/80-80/40 cams; Guy Croft aluminum intake manifold; twin Weber 45 DCOE carburetors; velocity stacks; Ansa quadtip exhaust & header; aluminum oil filter housing; internal coolant thermostat; PermaCool oil cooler sandwich plate; PermaCool oil thermostat; Serek 13 row oil cooler; Canton stainless steel coolant tank, steel braided coolant, oil & fuel lines; Purolator variable fuel pressure regulator; Carter electric solid state fuel pump; fuel pump anti-theft switch; fuel pressure gauge, ATL aluminium 15 gallon fuel cell mounted in luggage compartment; all air conditioning, heating & emissions devices removed; heavy duty timing belt; Magneti Marreli electronic ignition; dual throttle cables; K & N crankcase vent; Bosch 55 amp alternator with internal voltage regulator; Cool-It CV boot heat shield; Magnecor 8.5 MM Competition ignition wires, NGK racing spark plugs B9EBV, Kent adjustable cam pulleys
