I love watching a couple good players go at it but I can't play an RTS to save my life.
how is it so far?

Addictive... I can't stop thinking about when I'll get to play it again. Too much fun
So far I always play random so I know what to counter.
I progress slower ( my mid to late game progression sucks ), but I'm getting the first 10 minutes down pat for every race.
Hence I focus on rush games for now.
Some things are different, like no high ground advantage (miss % chance when below your target, is gone).
But generally it's *very* similar to the old game. I'd say 75% of the stuff just transferred over (with a tweak here and there).

Haven't gotten on the Beta yet, but REALLY want to (I am registered)!!!! I played the original WAY too much. RTS is my favorite type of game.

read an article that said
they're going to completely separate the single player campaign from the mulitplayer. that frees them up to do really cool, cinematic things in the single player without upsetting the balance of the multiplayer.
I can't wait till this drops so they can get busy on Diablo 3!

It's also coming out in 3 releases (probably $60 each release). I think it's one release per racial campaign - but I'm not sure.
No need to wait, you can always play the SC2 beta
Diablo 3 has a separate team, afaik. I'm hoping the beta for that comes out sometime soon too.
I played waaaaaaaaayyy too much diablo 1/2...

And that really bothers me... Basically, Blizzard is dividing up the game as it originally was to make more money

lol, you and I both!

Interview: Chris Metzen talks StarCraft 2
Joystiq wrote:You're calling the next two installments expansions, but will they have equal amounts of content per title?
I think you have to look at it terms of multiplayer and single player. For multiplayer, Wings of Liberty pretty much has everything you need to play each of these races. So each expansion set will have probably additional units or whatever. I don't want to get caught rolling out bullet points, because I don't know. But that's pretty close.
Additional units that'll be in the multiplayer?
That help to balance the multiplayer, right. Just like our normal expansion sets for RTS. I don't know that it will really be all that much different from the kind of content or expanded support content we've put out before. But in terms of the single player component, the two expansions will be at least as robust as the shipping game. And our expansion sets usually are. Actually, I think the Frozen Throne expansion we did for Warcraft 3 did technically have one less RTS campaign. It took more the shape of an RPG campaign. But there was still ... per data point and piece of art, like it was a robust expansion set. We're always going to do that. These chapters are vital and they're huge. Like those boxes, while technically expansion sets, are going to be a lot of work and really dense experiences in and of themselves. And I kind of look at the whole thing as "the story". It's just kind of broken into chapters.
this makes me doubt the next two parts will be $60 each. I'd guess $40. but who knows, Blizzard has the crack people want...

Well, I have one spare beta key that I can give away.
Granted it'll only work for a short while (beta ends monday).
Any takers?

I would LOVE to take it off your hands, but I'll be out of town this weekend so it would go to waste

First FO3 eats most of my life and now there is a Diablo 3 on the horizon...I will definitely be staying away from that one.
I have this disease that has a pretty long name to it. It is called: OnceIstartIcannotstopuntilIfinishitus...very, very bad disease with only one cure: abstinence.
The doctors first discovered that I had this disease when I got an allergic reaction to Colecovision, Commodore64, and Atari2600.

No worries
Hmm, might just have to per-order it! I was really hoping to try it out before hand just to see if it was worth it.
