HP to Acquire 3Com for $2.7 Billion

HP and 3Com Corporation (NASDAQ: COMS) (“3Com”) today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which HP will purchase 3Com, a leading provider of networking switching, routing and security solutions, at a price of $7.90 per share in cash or an enterprise value of approximately $2.7 billion. The terms of the transaction have been approved by the HP and 3Com boards of directors.
It can only improve the 3COM line... HP switches are the bomb.

that's a crazy amount of money for that brand, imo.

a few years ago I wondered why/how HP was still in business. now they own EDS and soon 3Com. :shock:

it's interesting for sure.

currently HP has sourced Cisco brand switches for their blade enclosures... i wonder if they're going to try and keep the whole process in house.

personally i've never had any problems with the cisco gear (specifically in regards to the blades) both fiber and copper.

i feel kinda, um, nervous about a 3com switch going in its place. knowwhatimean? 8)
